We first crossed paths in the spring of 2014 while working at Brioso, an Italian restaurant on Clemson’s main street. From the moment we met, we hit it off, chatting non-stop during our shifts. Chris usually walked or took the campus bus, so I often gave him rides home after work. By the fall semester of 2014, my last at Clemson, I had moved back home and picked up a new job to be closer. We ran into each other on campus and realized that many of our classes were in the same building and our breaks aligned perfectly (if I hadn’t been commuting from Spartanburg, I totally would have gone home for a nap between classes). We began hanging out around campus, working on school projects and enjoying snacks I brought from home. At the end of that semester, I thought we were parting ways for good and said, “well, it was nice knowing you.” Little did I know, just six months later, with Chris’s help, I would be packing as much as I could fit into my Jeep and moving my life to Baltimore—a city where I’ve fallen in love over and over. I always say, “I didn’t move here for Chris, but he’s the reason I stayed.” If you’ve been keeping track, Chris and I have known each other for over a decade now and I’m still just as excited to chat and spend time with him as I was back in that restaurant all those years ago.
