Things To Do

So! You've made it to Austin, but you've got some time to kill! Lucky for you, Austin is the home to incredible food, and some great sights! See a few of our favorite recommendations here. (We've put food and drink on the left, and activities and sights on the right!)

We went here on the first weekend I visited Landon. It was love at first bite. <3

Gourdough's Big. Fat. Donuts.

Gourdough's Big. Fat. Donuts.

1503 South 1st Street, Austin, TX 78704
, (512) 912-9070

Okay real talk, we've never been to this place (getting Shreddy for the Weddy y'all!) but Kaylee (in our wedding party/a seasoned Austin-ite) highly recommends this place for some wild donut fare. *Yes, that is a Donut BURGER. BUT WAIT. Are you one of those healthy people who doesn't eat Burgers? Fear not! You too can participate by choosing the Donut Salad!!

South Congress Avenue

South Congress Avenue

South Congress Avenue, Austin, TX

Shopping and food! If you're lucky, you might see a dancer on the street. Make sure to stop by the boot store. We dare you to find the most expensive boot... Shops you should stop by on South Congress: Uncommon objects — as the name suggests, this is a huge space containing all kinds of weird objects from creepy vintage dolls to china to stuffed animals. Allens Boots — you guessed it, that’s wear you buy your pair of cowboy boots! Mind you, it can poke a huge hole in your wallet. Big Top Candy Shop — an old-school candy store built to look like a combination between a pharmacy and a circus. And if that wasn’t cool enough, the shop features a soda fountain!

Torchy's Tacos

Torchy's Tacos

1468 E West Whitestone Boulevard, Cedar Park, TX 78613
, (512) 337-0997

If texas does one thing right, its tacos and i've only got two words for you: "extra trashy". It's the Texas version of "animal style" (you know what I mean!) If you like margaritas, try the swirl with lime and wildberry flavors! Thats a Landon/Janessa favorite!

Barton Springs

Barton Springs

Austin, TX 78746

A great place to hike or swim. But if you have allergies like me, please take your medicine. 🤦🏻‍♀️ and bug spray.

Gloria's Latin Cuisine

Gloria's Latin Cuisine

3309 Esperanza Crossing, Austin, TX 78758

Suuuuuper good mexican food, with a great atmosphere. There is a downtown location, or a convenient domain location!

Texas Capitol

Texas Capitol

1100 Congress Avenue, Austin, TX 78701
, (512) 463-4630

For those government buffs! Landon and I got kicked out off the premises by a nice gentleman in a golf cart. Those nifty little scooters you can rent and ride around the city? Apparently they are banned from Capital grounds. You've been warned.

Cuppa Austin

Cuppa Austin

9225 West Parmer Lane, Austin, TX 78717
, (512) 382-6729

Need that cup of joe, want a nice atmosphere, but not up to finding parking or fighting the crowds at Mozarts? Cuppa Austin is Janessa's favorite coffee house so far! If you're open to a little splurge, try their Red Velvet Latte (aka the Nessa Special).

East 6th Street

East 6th Street

Zilker Park

Zilker Park

Austin, TX 78704
, (512) 974-6797

A huge park that is home to music concerts, Christmas lights, and lots of doggies! If you want a great view of the city, and still enjoy the outdoors, this is the place!

Citizen Eatery - Vegan food, Paleo food, Gluten free food

Citizen Eatery - Vegan food, Paleo food, Gluten free food

5011 Burnet Road, Austin, TX 78756
, (512) 792-9546

Janessa has recently begun experimenting with more plant based options, but Citizen's vegan options makes you THINK you're eating meat...or at least never feel like you're missing out at all. Even Landon liked it!

Umlauf Sculpture Garden & Museum

Umlauf Sculpture Garden & Museum

605 Azie Morton Road, Austin, TX 78704
, (512) 445-5582

This was on the list of popular wedding ceremony locations! We've yet to visit but the locals love it! A great place near the city but far enough removed to have some peace and quiet.
