Christine and Lance's lives couldn't have been going in any more of an opposite direction when they first connected with one another. Christine had just moved back to Long Island after living in NYC for 7 years and was preparing to put roots down. Lance, however, was completing his chief resident year and was preparing to move to Philadelphia for the final portion of his medical training. Both encouraged by their respective friends, they independently decided to try a dating app called "Hinge." Both Christine and Lance had made it very clear on their profiles the importance of their Christian faith. Lance initiated the conversation, and after some initial back and forth, they realized that they had been attending the same church, though at different campus locations. The initial conversation felt easy, and both were interested in learning more about the other. Now, this all occurred in early March 2020, and they both quickly realized that an in-person meet-up was not going to be in the cards anytime soon. Being creative, Lance suggested a FaceTime date and they haven't stopped talking since. The rest, as they say, is history.
Christine and Lance are both very intentional, and as they grew closer to one another as 2020 evolved, they both knew that each other was the "one." With an extended vacation for the holidays, and both of their siblings (the best man and maid of honor, respectively) available, Lance knew that the week leading up to Christmas would be the perfect time to ask the most important question of his life. Since it was the holiday season, they had made it a point to do some exploring and see Christmas lights. Lance told Christine about a charming spot in Northport, Long Island right on the water that had a dock wrapped in lights and a variety of little shops. Christine claims that when Lance came to pick her up that she felt like something was up, as he looked more dressed up than usual. They got to the harbor, picked up some hot chocolate, and walked towards the pier which was decorated in lights. Once in a good position, and with Andrea (Christine's sister) in sight, who had kindly agreed to take pictures of the proposal, Lance asked Christine to take a selfie (which Christine had famously rejected to multiple times before). Once the selfie was taken, Lance got down on one knee and proposed. Christine is pretty sure she blacked out at that moment, but thankfully said yes. Afterwards, they made some phone calls to friends and family to tell them the good news. The night ended perfectly with an intimate dinner with both families and the wedding planning has been in full swing ever since.
