Now this is a story. It all started with both of us being convinced to go to a $7 Daughtry/Nickleback concert on a random Friday night. Jess had texted me and was like since your coming for a Jason Aldean concert on Saturday you should just come a day early to this too. I was a bit hesitant because I had just gotten a procedure on my elbow a day prior. But those of you who know Jess, know NO is not an option. So I drove up to NJ a day early to have a fun filled weekend. Ryan also had a group of friends who were going to a concert on Saturday in Camden and they were like why not we should go to the $7 concert too. Ryan only wanted to go to the concert for Daughtry, and unfortunately did not make it in time to even see Daughtry. In between sets Ryan's friends waved me over and asked about my arm in a sling. I can imagine a lot of small talk was happening and before we knew it Ryan and I were talking for a little bit. I remember thinking how easy he was to talk to and how cute he was. After our conversation ended I went to Jess and say how cute that guy in the jersey was. Jess replied, "Who? John Wall?". I replied, "OMG! How do you know his name?" Well, come to find out Ryan was wearing a professional basketball player's jersey, John Wall. I had 0 clue! We talked to their group of guys a little more and went our separate ways. Ryan says he tried to come find me to ask for my number, but had no luck. Maybe because I was wearing a dress that looked like 'Where's Waldo'. Two days later, I got a random message on facebook from a guy named Ryan Lamarca. I rarely checked my messages, but I did that night. The message in short went like 'I am the guy you were talking to from the Nickelback concert and if you aren't seeing anyone would I be able to have your number?' Later down the road, Ryan told me he had to go to the Mount Saint Mary's Softball roster to find out what my last name was to then search for me on facebook. And for those who know Ryan, know that this story is so unlike him. Guess it was meant to be! The rest is history. August 4th was truly unforgettable.
We had planned this small get together at our quaint apartment in Mt Laurel. We were just excited to be with friends since COVID had ruined a lot of our plans for 2020, so we wanted to end the year with our favorite people. We had planned a new years party, which I had no clue would end with me being engaged. I hadn't seen my friends in months and let just say drinks were flowing. He had told me to slow down on my drinking, which should have been my first sign. Me being me, I did not listen. I continued to pour shots of moonshine for everyone. At 11:30PM on December 31st, I yelled across the apartment, "Ryan when are you going to propose?". At that time, one of my friends pulled him aside and asked, "Do you think she knows?". I HAD NO CLUE. At midnight, I was surprised with him saying, " I don't just want to kiss you, I want to marry you". Then he got down on one knee with the prettiest ring in the world. It was the easiest YES I have ever said. I was engaged to the guy I met at a $7 Nickelback concert.
