It was circa 2007 when Laiza and Brian met at a church frequented by the Christian hipsters of Orlando. It was a thing. L and B ran in the same circles, went to see bands, geeked over Rainer Maria Rilke, and binged Jersey Shore together. They were friends. Mostly, because Brian didn’t have a shot. She was his unicorn. Then in 2011, Brian left for Germany. Years passed, and Laiza and Brian lived very separate lives. Until one day, Laiza’s best friend, Jana Quigley Claxton (say that 5 times fast), was face-timing the one&only BK. Laiza was so excited to hear his voice and said hi, then did a double-take because Brian had clearly grown up. It turned out that not only was Brian older and flyer, he had also found himself in Germany. L & B began to FT more and more. They connected over music, poetry, newfound philosophies, and their good looks. Brian would send Laiza and Laiza II tons of Haribo and Kinder chocolate from Germany, and sweet poems and sketches. Their reconnection grew into a deep appreciation for each other. Eventually, over many years of working through their fears and insecurities, they became the best versions of themselves, or at least decided they had become decent enough humans to keep working through their shit and get married. Brian knelt on one knee in their living room in Winter Park, FL, and asked Laiza to marry him. And well, we’re here today, so she said yes! They cannot wait to celebrate love and life with all of you on their wedding day!
