Natalie and Corey met at University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, TX. Corey was on the basketball team and Natalie was on the synchronized swim team. They both ended up in an acting class together in spring of freshman year, which neither of them wanted to take. The final project was performing a scene from a play, and in a twist of fate, they were paired together. Meeting outside of class to rehearse, they started talking and got to know each other as friends. They stayed in contact over the summer and were excited to see each other at the start of sophomore year. Natalie asked to hang out, and Corey suggested that they could play pool in the pub on campus. It was either the concussion he was recovering from, or the nerves, but she beat him three times in a row. That was their first date, and the beginning of their relationship. They were each other’s support through the next two and a half years of school, practice and competitions/games, injuries, a pandemic, a couple bouts of COVID, and figuring out life. Through all of that, they always helped each other find the positives and laugh through all of the challenges. Their escape was going for drives, hiking, experimenting with cooking and baking, going to church and watching football after, and spending countless hours together. On April 3, 2022, Corey surprised Natalie when he opened the door and was dressed nicely, which was unusual for him. His excuse was that he wanted to match her since she was also dressed nicely after coming from church. As he finished making her dinner, he handed her a glass of wine and told her to tell him about her day. After they had dinner, they were watching the sunset on the balcony and that is when Corey proposed. They are incredibly happy and excited to get married and start their new adventure together that will last for the rest of their lives.
