In true millennial fashion, we met through the online dating app, Hinge ("the dating app designed to be deleted") Alex was wearing an old shirt in her profile photo for a band from Corpus Christi called Progress. The shirt was a thank you gift for booking the band in San Diego in 2012, where Alex lived prior to Austin. Todd grew up with several of the band members and recognized the shirt right away, starting the conversation with "Is that a Progress shirt...?" His question caught Alex's attention and after a brief conversation through the app, we realized our mutual connection from the show in 2012 was one of Todd's childhood friends, Steven. A few days later, we had our first date at Easy Tiger in South Austin... and the rest is history.
We clearly knew we wanted to get married pretty early into our relationship. Secretly, since Alex was a senior in high school, she always wanted to get married on Halloween, with a Halloween theme. After establishing that we had a mutual love for Halloween, Todd asked, "What if we got married on Halloween?" and it took everything Alex had to not scream "YES!" so after quickly checking a calendar, we knew we needed to get married sooner rather than later. Todd used his late mother's engagement ring to pop the question as we were at a special Christmas dinner at Uchi in Austin. We both sort of "blacked out" about what exactly what was said, though Alex did try to stop Todd from getting down on one knee because she was worried about his pants. We were so excited to know that the ring fit perfectly. After dinner we went to one of our favorite local bars, The Little Darlin', for a surprise engagement party with our local friends, wedding party and Alex's mom. We are so excited to share our love and our favorite holiday with all of you!
