Flight

Santa Barbara Airport

This airport is the closest airport (about 15 minutes from downtown Santa Barbara). You'll find tickets here tend to be a little bit pricier, and many guests who fly from across the country may have connecting flights. However, it's much closer than any airport in Los Angeles and the crowds and traffic will be much more manageable here. The airport is in Santa Barbara, but to get downtown where many of the attractions and lodging will be, you'll take the 101 South from the airport. Flight

Los Angeles International Airport

The Los Angeles International Airport is a bit further away (about two hours from Santa Barbara in good traffic), but a good choice for our guests who are more comfortable drivers or those who want to take advantage of being in California to see the sights in Los Angeles. You'll also likely find flights from most major airports without taking connecting flights here. Los Angeles traffic is infamous for good reason, but mid-week and mid-day tend to be slightly less busy times to fly in. Later at night also tends to be quieter here. If you're coming from LAX, you'll generally want to take the 405 North to the 101 North to get to the Santa Barbara area. The Pacific Surfliner Train also goes from LA to Santa Barbara along the coast, although you'll need to get from the airport to Union Station to take it. The Pacific Surfliner Train agoes from San Diego to San Luis Obispo, with stops in Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, and more.

Public Transit

Santa Barbara has some limited public transit and shuttle services you may be able to take advantage of, but generally California public transit is not amazingly convenient or efficient for getting around. Relying on this option may limit your mobility, but should you find it helpful, you can find the website for Santa Barbara Metropolitan Transit here. East Coast Friends: definitely don't expect a subway or metro style transit situation here.

Best Western Plus Carpinteria

We have a block here: A little more affordable, and still quite close (a 13 minute drive, about a $25 Uber). For those of you who aren't locals, Carpinteria is a quiet, beautiful little town right on the beach. I think you might have to book all three weekend evenings to get the block deal at the Carpinteria hotel, so if you only want the two wedding event nights (Saturday and Sunday), you'll want to book outside of the block (although, you might have better luck tinkering with the booking page than I have). This hotel is less than 15 minutes away from the venue, in a sleepy seaside town beloved by Southern California locals. This is such a great place to be situated for access to Santa Barbara and Ventura, but with a quieter experience. Many of our friends and family have stayed here and have great things to say!

Best Western Plus Santa Barbara

We also have a complementary block here. Read below for details. Closer to the venue (a 6 minute drive), but a little bit more expensive and in a busier area. To book a block room you'll need to call the hotel directly at 805.682.7277 or toll free at 800.526.2282 and reference the Harvey & Hart Wedding Block. The rooms are blocked Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, but you're able to just book Saturday and Sunday if you prefer. There are both Standard Single & Double Bedded Rooms in the block, and for Friday & Saturday the rate is $314.00+tax per night; for Sunday the rate is $204.00+tax.
