Brian and Melissa met the very first week of freshman year of college at SUNY Oswego in 2014. We were fast friends and over the next four years, we gradually became best buds. The whole time however, we were basically friend-zoning each another on and off! But at the end of 2017, we finally made it out of the friend zone (yay!) and started officially dating. We had the best senior year of college ever, graduated together in 2018 and entered adulthood. In 2019, Melissa moved in with Brian temporarily in Suffern to commute to the city for work while she looked for apartments with her friend. Melissa was just about to sign a lease in Brooklyn but then, BOOM. A global pandemic hit. So Melissa was 'stuck' living with Brian for the foreseeable future. Turns out we had the best time ever, and you know what they say: if you can survive COVID quarantine, you can survive anything together. Nearly two years later, Melissa knew she still wanted to live in the city and live out the dream she had before COVID interrupted her plans. Brian was completely supportive of Melissa's decision to move out and move to the city with her friend, all while Brian was making the decision to BUY A WHOLE HOUSE. I suppose you could say we were on very different pages.. Our friends thought we were crazy, but we made it work - forging our independent paths while cheering each other on in whatever we were pursing. We even adopted a dog together in 2021 - if you know us, you know Charlie is our number one pride & joy. We truly embody the term DINKWADs (Dual Income, No Kids, With a Dog!). Fast forward to December 2023, we both took the day off on Friday, December 15 to do some fun christmasy city stuff together. We went for a walk around Astoria and ended up walking past the church where Melissa's grandparents got married. Brian knew this was a special place to Melissa, since her Yiayia & Papou were so important to her, so that's where he asked her to marry him. And now we're here! Planning a wedding that we can't wait to celebrate with everyone we love.
