Carytown

CarytownCarytown

Richmond, VA 23221

Nestled in the heart of Richmond, Carytown is a vibrant shopping, dining, & entertainment district. With a focus on small, locally-owned businesses, Carytown is home to the historic Byrd Theater as well as several unique dining & boutique shopping destinations. We recommend: Galaxy Diner: Colorful space-age diner dishing out burgers & comfort classics, including all-day breakfast. Can Can Brasserie: Parisian-style eatery in a classic bistro setting. Mayu Sushi and Thai: New restaurant that features a range of Thai classics & specials. They also have a fresh sushi bar. Garden Grove Brewery and Urban Winery: Independent brewpub with a snacky menu and extensive list of house beers and wine. Takeout or delivered food is welcome! World of Mirth: Toys for kids of all ages. Where Pee Wee’s Playhouse meets pop culture. Mongrel: Richmond’s uncommon card and gift store. From the irreverent greeting card to the perfect gift, Mongrel is filled with life choices for home, body, mind & soul.

Scott's Addition Historic District

Richmond, VA 23230

Scott’s Addition is home to 13 breweries, cideries, meaderies, wineries, and distilleries in an industrial warehouse district. Enjoy beer, cider, mead, wine, and spirits all within walking distance. Our favs are Strangeways Brewery and Buskey Hard Cider. There are tons of great places to eat, too. We highly recommend Wood and Iron which is a sports bar with great wings and burgers as well as massive, yummy salads. Pat likes the Smokehouse Burger and Emily enjoys the Honey Sriracha Fried Shrimp Tacos. There is also a fun brunch place called Moore Street Cafe that we enjoy going to!

Virginia Museum of Fine Arts

Virginia Museum of Fine ArtsVirginia Museum of Fine Arts

200 North Arthur Ashe Boulevard, Richmond, VA 23220

Highly recommend it to anyone who has not been here before. It is one of the largest art museums in the United States and Pat and I could spend hours here and still not see everything. VMFA is home to the largest public collection of Fabergé outside of Russia, the finest collection of Art Nouveau outside of Paris, and one of the nation’s finest collections of American art. VMFA is also home to important collections of Chinese art, English silver, and French Impressionist, Post-Impressionist, British sporting, and modern and contemporary art, as well as renowned South Asian, Himalayan, and African art. Free general admission!

Maymont

MaymontMaymont

1700 Hampton Street, Richmond, VA 23220

Where we took our engagement photos! Maymont is a 100-acre historic estate and park, located in Richmond, Virginia, with many unique experiences for all to enjoy. Stroll through the gardens and arboretum, see native wildlife habitats, feed friendly goats, and explore The Robins Nature Center to see their otters! Open daily from 10 am to 7 pm. There is free admission to the park, but Nature Center varies from $6-8.

Trapezium Brewing Co.

Great beer and pizza and 15 minutes from the guest hotel! In the taproom, they serve Neapolitan-style pizzas from their brick oven, along with apps and desserts. The draft list features a variety of year-round favorites as well as a selection of ever-changing special small batches. Emily recommends the Pulp Free beer and Pat recommends the Lucky 46 New England IPA. Both love the baked dry rub wings and the Kealia Luau pizza (Red sauce, bacon, pineapple, five cheese blend + bourbon BBQ).
