Things To Do

El Yunque

El Yunque

Río Grande 00745, Puerto Rico

We recommend visiting the beautiful El Yunque rain forest while in San Juan! Day trips are easy to find, and it's also an easy drive if you decide to rent a car. The views along the trails are beautiful with waterfalls and lookout points, but we were surprised by how few animals we spotted!

Old San Juan

Old San Juan

San Juan, San Juan, Puerto Rico

Old San Juan is certainly worth at least a morning or afternoon visit. Very walkable and lots of ways to do it, whether it's finding walking tours or exploring on your own. You'll find vibrant colors and Spanish colonial architecture along the narrow cobblestone streets, and hundreds of restaurants, bars, and outdoor cafes, many of which have live music!

Casa Bacardi

Casa Bacardi

Puerto Rico 165, Cataño, Cataño 00949, Puerto Rico
, +1 787-788-8400

We really enjoyed our experience at the Bacardi factory and highly recommend it. Plus, the ferry ride over is great!

La Placita

La Placita

179 Calle dos Hermanos, San Juan, San Juan 00907, Puerto Rico
, +1 937-557-3917

La Placita is a great spot for food and nightlife, and very close to Condado area. There is also a historical farmers market in the square with local produce and snacks! It is in the Santurce neighborhood, which is known for being more of the hipster art and music center of San Juan.

Castillo San Felipe del Morro

Castillo San Felipe del Morro

501 Calle Norzagaray, San Juan, San Juan 00901, Puerto Rico
, +1 787-729-6960

We absolutely loved exploring this historical fort with its beautiful park and stunning ocean views. It is also near Castillo de San Cristobal, another fort in San Juan that is worth a visit!

Nearby Beaches

Nearby Beaches

Vieques, Vieques, Puerto Rico

Just outside of San Juan are some of the most beautiful beaches in the Carribean! Both Vieques Island and Playa Flamenco on Isla Culebra are said to be incredible, and while we haven't been to either (yet!), we've heard great things from both locals and travelers. There are many ways to get there from San Juan, but many suggest the Ferry as the most affordable - note that this is likely at least a full day trip!

Rincón

Rincón

Rincón, Puerto Rico

If you are planning on extending your visit before or after the wedding, Rincon is a beautiful beach town said to have some of the best surfing in the Caribbean (if not the world)! They also have a number of fun cultural events such as the Rincon Art Walk - An art and food market that takes over the town's main square every Thursday at 6 pm. Rincon is located just a few hours drive across the island on the West coast, so you'd likely want to rent a car! We haven't been yet, but there's a chance we'd see you there!
