Our Wedding

Our celebration will be rustic, intimate, and eco-friendly. Your presence means the world to us as we make lasting memories in a way that is kind to our planet.

How We Met

June 2009

We met at the Young Writers’ Workshop - a summer camp for aspiring teenage writers. Kylie went for fiction and Skyler went for songwriting. Houses divided, we never actually talked to each other at camp. Our paths didn’t cross again for eight years - until a series of Facebook posts about Earth Day and Bill Nye got us to finally exchange words with each other. Soon after, Skyler took the leap to drive 9 hours from North Jersey to Ocean View for a weekend, and we both knew right away that this was the big one.

The Proposal

7.22.23

Back in early 2019, Skyler and I went to a Fleetwood Mac concert and had a lovely, snowy hike through the beautiful trails at Natirar in Somerset County, NJ. Fast-forward to 2023, Skyler tells me that we’re celebrating his mom’s birthday at the restaurant at Natirar. We arrive to the park and his mom says there’s a wait at the restaurant, so we head on an “impromptu” walk down the same trail we walked years before. At one point Skyler veers off the path and we descend down to the edge of this beautiful babbling brook, and he asks me to look for some smooth stones for him to skip (something we used to do when we lived at the beach). He gets down on one knee and I blurt out: "Are you proposing to me?!" He smoothly replies: "No, I just found this really great rock." Then Skyler pulls out a letter he had written to me three years before - the last in a series of a dozen letters he’d given me over the years. I read the letter and Skyler got down on one knee, revealing the most beautiful ring I’ve ever seen. He tells me that dinner will actually just be the two of us, but when we arrive at the restaurant, I find that he’s secretly arranged for my family to drive all the way up from Virginia to be there. His family and our friends are there too. It was such a magical night! We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you.
