A cold January night in 2016 at Moontower Saloon. We were both attending a Barton Creek coworker's birthday party, when I found myself alone since my friend got dragged away. On my own, I decided to find someone to chat with and happened upon the purchasing department--Jordan. As our conversation went on, we realized we had an unusual amount of interests in common ranging from music, books, tv shows and more. He slyly got my phone number and drove my friend and I home. As we continued to get to know each other, we found we didn't have everything in common but thoroughly enjoyed sharing new experiences and adventures. I found my camping companion and he found his two-stepping partner. Who knew that our time at Barton Creek would bring us such a gift.
On Christmas night of 2017 while having a drink with my dad and brother, they asked me about Kylie--I told them to expect a proposal next Christmas. That was when I started planning the ring and the proposal. We had already planned on going to Colorado for Christmas which would be perfect since Kylie loves the mountains and snow. Once we were in Colorado and Kylie was off with Emerson, I told Lance and Kristen my plan. Before I could ask for their help, Kristen immediately jumped up and gave me a big hug and Lance replied "that’s awesome, I approve." Both of which meant a lot to me. I told them I would need help picking a proposal location and they said no problem. Next, I talked with Kylie's father. Since Kylie said it would be archaic and mysogynistic to ask her father for permission, I compromised. I pulled her father aside and told him my plans and said "I hope that's okay?” He shook my hand and said welcome to the family. Even though I* knew Kylie would say yes (we’ve discussed getting married) I still had an enormous amount of anxiety about the words to use for the proposal. The entire drive to Breckenridge I was figuring out what to say and nothing seemed good enough. We pulled over at a viewing spot and I finally thought I had put together something perfect. Once we were standing in the 19 degree weather holding eachother shaking with cold my mind went blank. The first thing that came to mind was about how much she meant to me and how I couldn’t live without her so I got down one knee.
