Kylie is so excited to get married on her parent’s property in the San Juan Islands but logistically we are not able to invite everyone we would like. We also understand that not everyone living elsewhere will be able to make the trip up to the island. Because of this and because we have so many people we want to be able to celebrate with, we will have a separate post wedding reception with all our family and friends in Los Angeles. This reception will be a big informal celebration of our marriage. Anyone is welcome at this celebration.
While we would love to have everyone come to the ceremony and reception on San Juan Island, logistics prohibit us from having everyone we want there. But we wanted to make sure that we are still able to celebrate with those that won’t be coming to the ceremony and reception on San Juan by having the separate post wedding celebration in Los Angeles. Anyone is welcome to come to this reception, even if you plan on going to the first reception in August as well.
There is no official dress code but keep in mind that the ceremony and reception on San Juan will be outside and on the grass so make sure to check the weather and wear comfortable shoes :) Ladies-sandals or thick heels/wedges would be a good choice.
For both receptions, we will be doing a family style meal with lots of options for everyone! For the Friday Harbor reception, we will be having a big BBQ with tri-tip, salmon and vegetarian options along with a variety of sides.
There are a couple options for getting to the island and there are website links in the travel section where you can find more information. If you are flying into Seattle, there is a shuttle that will take you from the airport to the ferry landing in Anacortes (this is approximately a 2 hour drive). You can also fly into Bellingham which is a 45 minute drive from the ferry landing. Remember if you are driving on the ferry, reservations are required in advance! If you are walking on, you do not need a reservation and can buy tickets upon arrival to the ferry terminal. There are a limited amount of ferry’s per day. The link is in the travel section. The ferry ride is from 1-2 hours from Anacortes to San Juan.
For the wedding ceremony and reception on San Juan Island, kids are more than welcome to attend. For the post-wedding reception in Los Angeles we kindly request that kids under the age of 12 not attend. We thank you for your understanding!
