Our story began over a deck of cards at a cribbage league at Aegir Brewing Company. While we didn’t talk much during league nights, those games eventually led us to a Saturday tournament in November of 2023, also at Aegir, where we spent the day talking, laughing, and playing cribbage. When the next round of the league started soon after, our conversations continued and grew. One evening, after chatting most of the night, Kylie’s mom noticed the connection and decided to step in by secretly giving Adam Kylie’s phone number. Later that night, Adam texted, “Is this Kailey?” Even though he got her name wrong, Kylie still agreed to go on a date. Our first date was on December 7, 2023 at R Social, and what started as dinner turned into more than four hours of conversation. From that night on, everything felt easy and natural. Over the past two years, we have experienced so much together. We supported each other through new jobs and school, grieved the loss of Kylie’s beloved dog Lena, moved into a small apartment in Monticello, changed careers, spent countless hours with family and friends, and traveled together, including Adam seeing the ocean for the very first time. Eventually, we bought a home in Anoka together. Exactly two years after our first date, on December 7, 2025, Adam planned what Kylie thought was a completely legitimate cribbage tournament back at Aegir. With the help of our cribbage friends, who made sure Kylie won, the prize turned out to be a proposal and a beautiful engagement ring. Out of all the chapters we have shared so far, this one is our favorite. What started with a simple game of cribbage has turned into a life we are building together, one peg at a time, and we cannot wait to celebrate the next chapter with all of you.
