Hobbit Beach
Whether you're a Lord of the Rings fan or not, everyone can enjoy this short hike to a beautiful stretch of the Oregon coast. While we don't necessarily recommend a dip in the frigid Pacific Ocean, a blanket and a few snacks makes for a delightful picnic. The drive, while long, will take you through some of the most diverse landscapes in Oregon.
Dee Wright Observatory
This was the last stop on our July 2019 expedition to Three Sisters wilderness. Kylen was not particularly eager to wander around after having summitted South Sister, but Devin can't pass up any opportunity to wander around and look at rocks. It's a beautiful sight, well worth the scenic slow drive through Oregon Highway 242, and has truly noteworthy rocks.
Cascades Raptor Center
Kylen spent most of her graduate career volunteering for the Cascades Raptor Center. The CRC does important education and rehabilitation work for local populations of birds of prey. If you've never seen a golden eagle destroy a zucchini, this is the place for you.
Silver Falls State Park
The full Silver Falls loop will take you past 10 gorgeous natural falls. The hike itself is around seven miles, but the terrain is not terribly strenuous. This was where Devin took Kylen on one of their very first dates and a place that holds special meaning. Kylen and Devin revisited Silver Falls for their first and second anniversaries and spent much of the hike idly planning their future together.
Spencer Butte Trail #2
With a view that spans all of Eugene, Springfield, and extends to the distant mountains - this short and accessible hike is a great option for anyone wanting to stick close to the Eugene area! This hike has it's steep moments and has around a 1,000ft elevation gain, so pack your athletic shoes!
Blairally Vintage Arcade
Hands down, the most fun bar in Eugene! Every Friday night starting around 9:30pm, they kick it back a few decades and host 80's night with a full dancefloor and tunes to die for. This was our favorite date night spot and always guaranteed an amazing night!
