How We Met

First comes work, then comes marriage...

On a summer day in July of 2013, Kyle and Jena showed up to their first day of work. As two driven and ambitious college grads, Kyle and Jena knew this would be an important day. But, both were unaware of just how important it would turn out to be. Conveniently assigned to sit next to each other for the first few months of their new jobs, it didn’t take them long to realize that there was something special there (well, it took one of them a bit longer to realize...ask Kyle about sticking Jena in a cab). Fast forward five years through dinner dates, card games, traveling across the US and abroad, summers at the beach, an Eagles Super Bowl, and you’ll get to the good part: Kyle asking Jena to spend the rest of her life with him. To learn more about that, keep reading!

The Proposal

Here’s the thing...Jena almost ruined it!

2018 was off to a good start: Jena had successfully learned how to ski, Villanova had won the National Championship, oh and did we mention the Eagles won the Super Bowl? We did? Well, a reminder never hurts. :) So, 2018 was shaping up nicely, but it was going to get even better. Kyle was going to propose. The only problem was, how could he pull off buying a ring without Jena knowing? You might not know this, but Jena is a bit of a control freak (shocking, right?). And with Kyle and Jena spending almost all of their time together as roommates and carpoolers, it wouldn’t be easy. Kyle had to sneak off to the jeweler on weekends or during any bit of free time while Jena was busy. To keep the surprise, Kyle took a day off work to drive to and from Annapolis to ask Jena's dad. He coordinated with friends and family to have everyone in town to share in the celebration. Unfortunately, this meant there was a tight schedule to keep. Jena and Kyle needed to be at the Art Museum by noon for the (hidden) photographer and back at the apartment by 1pm for the surprise party. Jena, unaware that their plans to see an exhibit at the Art Museum were VERY important, decided to go for a 8 mile run that morning. Kyle was only slightly stressed out... Thankfully, Kyle and Jena made it just in time. Kyle managed to drag Jena to their favorite place in the city - a little gazebo outside of the Art Museum that overlooks boathouse row - and propose. After lots of hugs, kisses, and happy tears, Kyle brought Jena back to the apartment to be surprised by their closest friends and family. It was one heck of an engagement party and the perfect kickoff to wedding planning.
