What is the dress code?

Answer

Cocktail Attire: Wear cocktail dresses, dressy jumpsuits, and jackets and slacks. Reminder venue is located mountain top in Western North Carolina, so temperatures can range from cool to cold and can be very windy.

Are costumes encouraged for the night of the wedding?

Answer

Not on the night of the wedding due to some logistical challenges, but please do wear a costume if you'd like to our meet and greet event on Friday night, October 30th!

Does Uber/Lyft operate in the area?

Answer

Both can be spotty. You should be able to get one to the Venue, but it is unlikely that you'll be able to get one back to where you're staying. One way you can potentially guarantee getting one back to your hotel/cabin is to schedule one in advance and confirm with the driver that they will pick you up.

Is the venue easy to get to?

Answer

The venue is relatively easy to get to but please preview the various routes prior to the start of your drive as there are alternatives that have extremely windy roads. Please designate a sober driver or coordinate a carpool if you plan to drink as rideshare services can be spotty.

Does the venue have good cell reception?

Answer

No, the cell reception can be limited so please plan accordingly. Directions can be pre-loaded, or you can pick up stronger service once you make your way back down the mountain.

What kind of weather can I expect at the venue?

Answer

The average high for late October is 62, with the average low being right around 32. Given that this venue is on top of a mountain, strong winds can sometimes occur. Please plan to dress accordingly. The ceremony and cocktail hour will be held outside, with the reception to follow inside the venue, which is climate controlled.

Where should I fly in to?

Answer

The largest airport in the area is Charlotte, which is about 2 hours away. Other options are Greensboro and Asheville, which are both a little under 2 hours from West Jefferson.

How do I get to the venue? Are there routes I should avoid?

Answer

PLEASE READ: We highly recommend using Google Maps, Apple Maps, or Waze, but personally prefer Google Maps, to get to the venue, as we have tested those apps multiple times. Others may be accurate, but we can't guarantee it. Unless you want to drive on a very windy gravel road, PLEASE DO NOT TAKE ORCHARD RD., WHICH BECOMES PATTON RIDGE RD, WHICH BECOMES SUMMIT RD. There is no reason your map should suggest this, but if it does, avoid it. Google maps will provide multiple routes from West Jefferson, but you'll see that there are two which are very easy with minimal winding turns and are roughly 26 minutes each. If you're coming from a different area, please look at the entire route prior to choosing it as some routes may be more difficult to navigate than others.
