Our Story

July 2015

Vasuda and Kyle met on a warm summer day in Huntsville, AL. They jumped on some trampolines, completed an obstacle course, and played DodgeBall. It felt like they were back in middle school. Afterwards Kyle, Vasuda, and Amie (co-maid-of-honor) went for a run. By the end of the night, Vasuda bought her first gift for Kyle - a cherry limeade from Sonic. He subsequently made her swoon with a serenade of “A Whole New World". Days passed and Vasuda's old blue car gave up in the middle of University Drive. Kyle came to her rescue. They waited to get her car towed and ended the day with a 6 hour roadtrip to the beach to meet with friends. Little did they know this was the beginning to their story. Since then, they have had many adventures together - some still involving flat tires and broken cars. They enjoy traveling to new cities, seeking out local coffee joints, eating different cuisines, biking, playing with their fur babies, and arguing about who has a bigger nose.

The Proposal

09/04/2018

On September 3rd, 2018, Vasuda and Kyle went to explore the Nā Pali Coast on a sunset dinner cruise. They stopped at "their spot" on top of the Waimea Canyon before checking in for their cruise. As Kyle began a conversation, a group of tourists surrounded them. Vasuda still remembers Kyle making a comment "I guess this is not a good time" and how it didn't make any sense at that time. Once they boarded the catamaran and were enjoying the view, Vasuda needed to excuse herself to the back of the boat and spend the rest of the time avoiding being sea-sick. They ended the night star-gazing when Vasuda felt a box bulging in Kyle's pockets. At this point, she had put one and one together and realized that Kyle probably had something planned. Unfortunately, thanks to sea-sickness and unforeseen interruptions, she knew Kyle was going to wait for another trip to pop the question. The next day, while Kyle was at work, Vasuda drove up to "their spot" to soak in the beauty on her last day on the island. Little did she know Kyle was going to join her. When Kyle arrived, she told him how late they were running to the Lua'a they had tickets for and that they needed to start heading out immediately. Kyle's response was rambling about life and such. All Vasuda remembers is looking into Kyle's eyes and going "do it already" to which he tried to squat on the rock they were sitting on (cause kneeling meant Vasuda would be left with no fiancé). They ended that night being late to an amazing Lua'a where they celebrated their engagement. Vasuda and Kyle can't wait to tie the knot in Summer 2019 during their fusion Indian-American wedding. Who knows? Maybe you will get to enjoy some karaoke of "A Whole New World" during their reception.
