The Wedding Website of Nora Berens and Kyle Schank
Mackinac Island must be reached by boat. Proceed to the Shepler's or Arnold transit websites to coordinate your way over. There is a group rate/code set up for Shepler's. Both boat companies will drop you right in the center of downtown. If you are staying on the island, the ferry companies will bring your luggage to your hotel when you land and you can get right to exploring downtown. There are no cars on the island. Walk, bring your bike, rent a bike or grab a horse drawn taxi to your next destination. Mission Point does have it's own shuttle that is waiting on the road that will bring you to the hotel.

Travel Note

Shepler's Mackinac Island Ferry

GROUP RATE/DISCOUNT HAS BEEN PROVIDED BY SHEPLER'S FOR GUESTS OF KYLE/NORA: CODE= 08wedding26 (case sensitive) There are 2 ferry companies that take you to Mackinac Island (they are actually owned by the same company-thus pricing is pretty comparable between the 2). We typically use Shepler's to get over. The other company is Arnold Transit. Shepler's has ferries from Mackinaw City and St. Ignace. You can purchase your round trip tickets beforehand on the Shepler's website. The tickets purchased can be used for any time ferry- you do not need to pick a specific time to leave. In the summer months you should get there early and give yourselves plenty of time to get a spot on the ferry as there can be a line. FERRY SCHEDULE LISTED ON THE WEBSITE. You are allowed to bring your own bike on the ferry/to the island for a round trip fee. This can be added when you purchase your ferry tickets. There is day and overnight parking available through Shepler's. Addresses can be found on the website. For overnight parking- proceed to the overnight parking lot listed. You will receive a ticket at the gate when you park. A shuttle will pick you and your luggage up from the lot. Tell them which hotel you will be staying at at they will tag your luggage directly to the hotel from the boat. You can pay your parking voucher by scanning the QR code on the ticket or at the ticketing counter before or after you get off the ferry at the end of your trip.

Hotel

Baymont by Wyndham Mackinaw City

109 South Nicolet Street, Mackinaw City, MI 49701

There are multiple options/hotels in Mackinaw City and St. Ignace if you wish to stay there and not on the island. We have set up our wedding day schedule that would allow you to catch same day ferries if needed. One example of these hotels is the Baymont in Mackinaw City. Kyle and Nora have stayed at this hotel several times. It is clean, has a pool/hot tub and a hot breakfast included. It would be a quick walk/drive to the Shepler's ferry docks in Mackinaw City. (There is not a room block set up at the Baymont.)

Flight

Chippewa County International Airport

For guests coming in from out of state- there is an airport in the UP which is about a 30 minute drive from the St. Ignace Shepler's Mackinac Island Ferry. There are direct flights from both Detroit and Minneapolis (Delta). If you are choosing this route- please let Nora or Kyle know and they can help with logistics of a shuttle to the ferry docks in St. Ignace.

Flight

Cherry Capital Airport

An alternate to flying into the UP would be flying into Traverse City. From there, you would drive to Mackinaw City for the ferry. (approximately 2-2.5 hours)
