Wicks Retreat - it is a a cabin in the woods across the river from the town of Nipawin. Written directions (in case you are not tech savvy!): Starting from the junction of highway 35 and 55. Follow signs for highway 35 north and highway 55 west, towards NIpawin Regional Park and Prince Albert. You will continue on the route for approx 6.5km and cross the river. Turn right (this is a range road - safe for all vehicles and signs will be posted). You will come to a T intersection. Turn left. Continue until you see signs for Wicks Retreat/wedding ceremony. Follow the driveway until you come to the cabin. Parking directions will be provided. You have arrived! Here is a link to google maps to ensure you arrive in the right spot, however signage will be provided! https://maps.app.goo.gl/6FNa6p4PXH7MEX9f9

Question

Where is the wedding reception?

Answer

Reception will be held at the Evergreen Event Centre in the town of Nipawin. Originally we had wanted to have an outdoor reception, however with early May's weather being unpredictable, inside was the better option! Written instructions (in case you aren't tech savvy!): Starting from the junction of highway 35 and 55. You will follow signs for highway 55 east, and Carrot River. (If you are coming from the ceremony this will be a left turn) After approx 650m, you will turn left onto Evergreen Drive - signs for Evergreen Centre and the golf course will be posted alongside our wedding signage. At the end of this road is the reception venue, on your right side. there is plenty of parking available. The hotel with rooms reserved for our guests will be on your left. Signage will be provided, however here is the link on google maps to ensure you're going the right direction! https://maps.app.goo.gl/J67N3ceqpTWCKYHt9

Question

Where should I stay?

Answer

Please see under tab "Accommodations" Hotel - rooms at the Northern Greens Resort and Conference Centre have been reserved for guests for both the Friday night before the wedding and the Saturday night after. It is located across the parking lot from the reception hall for easy and safe transport to and from the event! There is also the River Inn, located in town but a little further from the venue. Camping - although weather in May is unpredictable in Saskatchewan, camping is available at the ceremony venue, Wicks Retreat, where the wedding party and immediate family will be staying. Please contact Kyle or Kyra if you are interested in this option.

Question

Where should I sit at the wedding ceremony?

Answer

Pick a seat, not a side! You are loved by both the groom and bride! There is no "side" for this ceremony. Please just respect that some seats are reserved in the front row for the immediate family members. A seat will also be assigned for those who are attending our wedding from beyond.

Question

Where do I sit at the wedding reception?

Answer

There will be a seating chart located near the entrance of the reception venue. This is not to seperate guests to assigned seating! It is simply for ease of organization. Seats can be moved and traded! We just ask that guests respect that we want our immediate family to get the front row treatment! We are hoping after supper and formalities that most folks are out of their seats to visit, dance, and celebrate accordingly!

Question

How do I get to and from the wedding reception?

Answer

There is parking available at both the ceremony and the reception venue. Members of the wedding party will have transportation taken care of. The bride and groom have a strict stance on this - drunk driving will NOT be tolerated. RCMP will be contacted if it is made aware to the wedding party that someone intends on driving impaired or tries to drive while impaired. This may seem harsh, however driving while impaired is a serious offense to the bride and groom. There are family and friends that are unable to attend this wedding due to the actions and decisions of drivers who were impaired. Guests are expected to organize their own transportation to and from the venue if they decide to consume alcohol. Refreshments provided at the wedding ceremony will be alcohol-free to ensure guests can travel between the ceremony and reception safely. Non-alcoholic beverages will be available free of charge for those who do not wish to drink. Should you decide to partake in any consumption besides what is provided, it is your responsibility to ensure your travel is safe. Accommodations have been provided within walking distance. However, if you cannot organize a ride to where you're staying in a safe manner, please contact the bride and groom, either before or during the wedding. There is no taxi service in Nipawin. Rides that would be offered for those that cannot organize a safe ride would be given by guests volunteering out of the goodness of their hearts. We have gathered our closest and most loved family and friends in the small town of Nipawin, and it is our intention to ensure everyone gets home or to their hotel safely. Thank you for understanding.

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

As said above, weather in the Spring is unpredictable in Saskatchewan! From a quick google search, the average temperature in May in Nipawin ranges between 3-18 degrees Celcius. However here is a link to the weather prediction in Nipawin (results will appear when close enough to the date of the wedding). https://www.theweathernetwork.com/en/city/ca/saskatchewan/nipawin/current

Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

Wear your best/whatever makes you feel good! Your best dress? The suit jacket you have been waiting to wear again? You feel most comfortable in leggings? That all works for us. We want our guests to feel their best and as comfy as can be so there is no formal dress code - except for the wedding party ;) The most important thing you bring is yourself, and maybe your dancing shoes! Of course the only suggestion we can make is to avoid white - let the bride be the center of attention! Or you just might end up being spilled on... semi-unintentionally...

Question

Can I bring my children?

Answer

Children invited to the wedding are included on the RSVP tab. That of course means all the children the bride and groom could think of are included in the celebrations! However if there are any questions or you fear your children may have been missed, contact the bride at 306-715-9808. Please note, there is no specified babysitting designated for the wedding. Children are the guests' responsibility. Minors will not be served alcoholic beverages as per the Saskatchewan Liquor Laws, and different meal options for children are not available (however supper will be served buffet style so smaller portions is easily accommodated!)

Question

How do I RSVP?

Answer

There is a tab on this website specifically for RSVP. There you can indicate whether you are bringing a +1, any allergen information or food preferences, and suggest a song to add to our repetoire! Please RSVP by March 10th, 2025. If you have any difficulties with this, please contact the bride (306-715-9808) or groom (306-202-7886).

Question

What if I have a dietary requirement? (ie. allergies, restrictions, concerns)

Answer

This is an important part of your RSVP! Please use this tab to tell us if you have any allergen concerns, are gluten-free, etc. Our supper will be served buffet style, and we will ensure we have options for everyone to have a delicious meal! Should you have issues with RSVPing, or if your dietary requirements change, please let the bride (306-715-9808) know before April 26th, 2025 so we can inform the caterer. We want everyone to have a delicious meal, and no one to be left out!

Question

What type of bar is planned?

Answer

Our bar will be stocked and ready for the party! Drinks will be $3. There is not an atm on site, so please bring cash! We are also looking for volunteers willing to take turns running the bar so everyone has a chance to enjoy the party! Please let the groom (306-202-7886) know if you would be interested in helping out. As per Saskatchewan liquor laws, minors cannot be served, and non-alcoholic beverages will be available free of charge.

Question

Can I take photos?

Answer

During our ceremony, we ask that you do not take photos. We have a wonderful photographer, Sarah Chalus, who will be doing us the honour of capturing every moment of our special day! However, after the ceremony, we have no restrictions on photographs with family members and at the reception. The most important thing is we would like everyone to be in the moment and have fun! Experiencing memories for yourself and not from behind a phone or camera screen is genuine and cannot be recreated.
