Things To Do

Madison is known as a particularly good place for eating, drinking, and being outside. Although we also recommend a Capitol tour and any of Madison's many museums, we decided to focus on the central three categories in our list of things to do. Further recommendations available upon request!

Dane County Farmers' Market

2 East Main Street, Madison, WI 53703

One of the biggest farmers' markets in the country happens Saturday mornings a block away from our wedding venue and hotel! Get yourself some fresh curds or Stella's Hot & Spicy Cheesebread, hang out on the Capitol grounds, do some people-watching.

Umami Ramen & Dumpling Bar

923 Williamson Street, Madison, WI 53703

Umami is a delicious restaurant with a great atmosphere. A comfortable walk both from the hotel and from Gib's Bar. The arcade bar across the street is fun, too!

Canteen Taco

111 South Hamilton Street, Madison, WI 53703

Their happy hour is unbeatable—try the tacos! Canteen has a great view of the Capitol and is a block away from Kyle's former apartment.

Genna's Lounge

105 West Main Street, Madison, WI 53703

This is the locals' spot on Capitol Square and the official unofficial bar of UW English grad students. Among many other visits, Helen, Kyle, and Aaryn (maid of honor) celebrated Kyle's birthday here when Helen and Kyle were getting to know each other!

Gib's

1380 Williamson St., Madison, WI 53703

Craft cocktails in a converted house on Madison's Hippest Street™.

Picnic Point/Lakeshore Nature Reserve

2000 University Bay Dr., Madison, WI 53705

An easy hike out to a gorgeous spot at the tip of a narrow peninsula in Lake Mendota!

Brittingham Boats

701 West Brittingham Place, Madison, WI 53715

A great way to get out on one of Madison's lakes! They offer kayaks, canoes, paddle boards, and paddle boats for rent at very reasonable hourly rates. Pontoon boats are available at their Lake Mendota Isthmus location.
