Rocky Mountain National Park
Rocky Mountain National Park is about an hour drive from Fort Collins through the beautiful Big Thompson Canyon. There's great hiking and also scenic outlooks for those who just want to drive through and not hike at the higher elevations. The entrance fee is $25/vehicle.
Horsetooth Reservoir
Horsetooth is a long, narrow reservoir to the west of Fort Collins that's free to visit and great for boating, kayaking standup paddleboarding, water skiing and jet skiing. You can rent any of these at the Inlet Bay Marina, if the reservoir is full enough at the time for the docks to be open.
Lory State Park
Lory State Park is about a 10 mile drive west of Fort Collins and has beautiful hiking trails ranging from easy to moderate. There's a $9 entrance fee per vehicle.
Downtown Fort Collins
Downtown Fort Collins has a bunch of great restaurants, parks, and gardens to visit for anyone who would prefer to stick in town while visiting.
