Great food (locally sourced) and superb beer.
Great hiking--we might head over as a group, but probably won't have time. If you're looking for some solitude and Watershed isn't enough, Leatherwood is about a 10 minute drive from the wedding site. Take a right on Fires Creek Rd after you exit Watershed (wedding site) and drive 1.3 miles. You will see a sign for Leatherwood Falls--turning right at the sign you'll be on Fires Creek Wildlife Rd. Continue 1.9 miles and you will see an obvious parking area on the left. If you have just a little time to burn, cross over the footbridge and hike alongside the beauty of Fires Creek. If you have 1:30 or more to burn, hike up to the Fires Creek Rim trail to the lookout. Walk across the footbridge and follow the blue trail markers with a #92. It's about a 45 minute walk up to the lookout area--it will surprise you (wait, this is North Carolina?!).
Look at the website. If you ever want to come take a class please give us a call. We'd love to see you while you're in town. The gift shop is excellent--full of work from local artisans.
Our favorite lookout and where we got engaged. The Appalachian Trail and the Bartram Trail both pass over this lookout. It's a 1:15 minute drive from Watershed, but it's worth the drive if you have time.
Franklin is a cute little town that's relatively close--about a 50 minute drive from Watershed. Rathskeller is a cute coffee/pastry shop right off of the main drag. See the listing for Root and Barrel--a block from each other.

Love, love, love this little town. It's 1:20 minute drive from Watershed. Visit the coffee shop (they have Campasino Coffee which is fabulous) and the store, Bardo.
Great restaurant if you're looking for fancy.

Really Great food, and desserts. Casual atmosphere
Cute little breakfast spot
Cute and close little breakfast diner/comfort food.
Murphy is a cute little town with a few shops worth exploring. Blue Moon Elise has amazing handmade soaps and other gifts for friends back home. There are a couple craft/art shops nearby and a coffee shop.
