Both of these towns are beautiful classic, gold-country towns. Grass Valley has recently closed Mill St. to cars, so you can explore this beautiful street on foot. The Lazy Dog Chocolateria has home-made drumstick ice cream cones in incredible flavors! Bicycle Thief Pizza is nearby, and it’s some of the best pizza we’ve ever had! Nevada City has more hills to navigate, but has immense amounts of charm. Broad St. and Commercial St. are their main thoroughfares, with plenty of restaurants and local artist shops to explore. In a few short months, they will be prepping for the annual Dickens Fair, which runs through most of December.
This is where we took our engagement photos! It was below 50F, but we still had a wonderful time. The trail is relatively flat and, if you would like, you can see if you can find the locations we took the photos in our gallery along your walk. Happy hunting!
The Nevada City area is known for its local beauty and proximity to the Wild and Scenic Yuba River--the river Asia worked with during her time at the South Yuba River Citizens League as an Americorps member. We encourage you to get out and explore, weather permitting.
Enjoy Kyle’s favorite running trails or just appreciate the view! Great spots for hiking, birding, photography, and rock climbing. Even the drive along 49 is fun and winding.
A bit further away, Lake Tahoe is the sparkling gem of the Sierra Nevadas. There’s so much to do here, it’s a good option if you want to extend your trip!
