Our understanding is that the ETIAS travel authorization requirement will not go into effect until the 4th Quarter of 2026, which is approximately two weeks after our wedding. We don’t believe you will need this authorization but we are closely monitoring and will continue to do so as we approach September.
Both the ceremony and reception will be outside, weather dependent. Mid-September in Rome is known to be hot during the day (as high as 80 degrees) with cooler evenings (dropping into the 70s, sometimes 60s). Keep an eye on the forecast as you're packing so you can pack a shall or wrap as needed.
Hotel Donna Camilla Savelli is less than a 10 minute walk from Villa Aurelia. That said, it includes walking up stairs. We are working on arranging vans which will take approximately 3 minutes to get from the hotel to the venue, or people can walk.
The venue is made up of various surfaces, including loose stones and grass. Guests who plan to wear heels are encouraged to wear block heels in lieu of stilettos.
We will be serving a variety of Italian fare at the wedding reception. When we send out invitations and ask for final RSVPs, we will ask about any food allergies or restrictions. In traditional Italian weddings, all guests are served the same carefully planned multi-course meal, rather than selecting from individual options like chicken, beef, or fish. This approach reflects the Italian hospitality, where the couple curates a shared dining experience meant to be enjoyed together, celebrating abundance, family, and unity.
Rome has two main airports: Fiumicino (FCO) and Ciampino (CIA). FCO is a large international hub, ideal for transatlantic long-haul flights. CIA is smaller and mainly services budget airlines (like Ryanair/Wizz Air), offering quicker transport around Europe. Both airports are about a 25-30 minute taxi ride to Donna Camilla Savelli.
Yes, Uber rides are available in Rome! However, when getting into Rome from the airports specifically, we recommend hopping on the taxi line, as it’s usually easier to find than the Uber pickup locations. Usually, it’s a flat fee to get from the airport to the center of Rome, and most taxis accept credit card.
In our opinion, the train system in Italy is unmatched. You can get from Milan to Florence/Tuscany (2 hour train ride), Florence/Tuscany to Rome (1.5 hour train ride), Rome to Naples (just over 1 hour train ride), and Naples to Sorrento (1 hour train ride) all via the Italian train system. The opportunities are endless! Be sure to keep a close eye on your belongings at all times throughout your travels.
You bet your bottom dollar we are! If you'd made it this deep into our wedding website, thank you for being here. As a prize, we'll buy you a drink on September 18th ;)
