Fun Fact: The Gate House was where Michael and I had our first date! We love to stop in here often, especially on our anniversary, to enjoy the food and lively atmosphere. If you are looking for a good, local restaurant, you've found it! (PS: They are known for their wood-fire pizzas, which is also my favorite thing there).
If you have some time to spare while in the Rochester area, I suggest visiting the Memorial Art Gallery (aka: MAG). They constantly change out their special events, so there is always something new to experience. It's a great, leisurely way to spend an afternoon, especially if the weather is dreary (good ole Rochester snow...) (PS: Students who present their college ID receive 1/2 off admission)
The Strong Museum is definitely 'bucket list' worthy of places to visit in a lifetime. This two-story, family friendly museum focuses on the history of play! If I were to list everything Strong has, I would need to write an entire book. But visiting their butterfly garden, upstairs gaming arcade, and having the kids "shop" in their imitation Wegmans, is a must.
