Yes, we plan to be able to accommodate a variety of our guests preferences.
Tropical formal still means that it is a formal event . Since it will be in a warmer climate it means lighter and brighter fabrics. In tropical zones, it is much more common to have a linen suit or a ‘summer suit’. The use of colour is more prominent in tropical climates, so a colourful shirt (light pink, yellow, etc.) with a suit (dark or light) is appropriate. Long flowy gowns or elegant summer dresses.
Although the invitation says formal— tuxes are not required. Suits are encouraged!
It wouldn’t be very nice of us to send you somewhere that wasn’t! :) Cartagena is a widely visited place. You can read more about it here: https://www.viahero.com/travel-to-colombia/is-colombia-safe
For our guests we will make sure that activities/tours are readily available for you to limit the amount you have to figure out on your own. There is Uber in Cartagena so you can easily get around and people will speak English to you as much as they can given it’s a very touristy city. We will also try to book airport shuttles upon guests arrivals if many of you arrive on the same dates and times to eliminate having to communicate with taxis. Many in our party will be bilingual so you will most likely be around someone at all times that speaks either language.
