Kurt and Grace officially met in May of 2024, but their story began long before that. The Lord was faithfully working in both of their lives, guiding them in ways they didn’t yet realize—ultimately leading them to apply to serve at a Christian camp called FUGE. Although they lived three hours apart, they were placed on the same team for camp at Ridgecrest Conference Center. From the moment they met, they instantly clicked and quickly became the best of friends.

As Kurt and Grace watched each other serve in their ministry roles they started to grow feelings for each other. Their friendship grew and they loved being around each other. After a few conversations they knew the feelings were mutual. The only challenge was that camp rules didn’t allow coworkers to date during the summer. Even without official dates, Kurt and Grace still were able to get to know each other better. They saw the Lord worked immensely throughout the summer of ministry and their growing friendship.

The following week, Kurt and Grace both happened to be in Florida on separate trips and were able to meet up. They spent two sweet days together, and during that time Kurt asked Grace to officially be his girlfriend. They even talked about marriage and entered their relationship with the shared intention of pursuing it with that purpose in mind.

After the summer, Kurt and Grace began a long-distance relationship, with Grace attending college in Virginia and Kurt living in his hometown of Lenoir, North Carolina. Despite the distance, they grew closer and deeper in their relationships with the Lord. Their love for one another continued to grow as they encouraged and strengthened each other in their faith. During the fall, God gave them a deep sense of peace about their relationship and marrying one another one day.
