We spent a lifetime just missing each other, but when the timing was right we finally met. To say our whole lives have been intertwined both being born in Bartlett, IL. Time spent in the Upper Peninsula love of shows and concerts. Countless times we have been in the same place at the same time but never ran into each other. Then all it took was the helpful encouragement of our friends to convince us to join an App called Tinder, and a few right swipes later and one lame opening line from Laurie, we were talking. After weeks of talking online and one cancelled date we finally met outside the friendly confines of a Cubs game. Alison had never met someone online and Laurie thought it was a good idea to go to the most public place she could think of. Anxieties were high the day mostly because Alison is an anxious person and well it was Laurie's first date in a while. While driving to the city Laurie was lectured by some of her best friends on how she cant interrupt and need to give Alison space to speak, her greatest weakness not yelling when excited. While Alison's friend had just met someone online and that woman proved to be a man so she was anxious of what this person from the internet would be. Laurie's ability to be on time to nothing at all even a first date added to that anxiety. We couldn't tell you if the Cubs won or lost but after the game we walked all over Wrigleyville talking until we ended up at the Pick Me Up Cafe where Laurie finally put her foot in her mouth, in true form of being excited yelled something at Alison, not in anger in excitement but nun the less it was embarrassing. When excusing herself to use the restroom her parting words "If you are not here when I get back, I understand." But there Alison was.... fast forward to a concert, a PRIDE and then Laurie's 30th Birthday roast where her friends did her no favors. If Alison stuck around she was the real deal. The real deal she was. We Uhauled in together 10 months later and continued to grow our relationship over so many common interests. Love of concerts, musicals, travel, adventures, values of independence, family and friendships most importantly having dogs named after foods. We constantly challenge each other but most importantly complement each other, bring out the best versions of ourselves and we laugh, there is always laughter and love.
