We're getting married!

Anyone who knows Alex knows he’s the ultimate planner, especially for vacations, so a global pandemic was not going to stop him from celebrating his birthday in December 2020. He and Jacqueline went on a roadtrip to some of the largest National Parks in Utah, working from their laptops during the day and driving at night. When he suggested that they take the day off for his birthday so they can go on not one, but two major hikes in Zion National Park, Jacqueline was hesitant, but it was his birthday so how could she say no? They woke up at 4am to drive into the park, and geared with their backpacks and headlamps, they set off for the first hike of the day: Angel’s Landing. While difficult at times, they made it to the windy summit as the sun was rising and they soaked up the spectacular views. Of course they wanted a photo to commemorate their achievement so Jacqueline asked another hiker and Alex gave him his cell phone. While walking to stand next to her, Alex reached deep in his pocket to pull out a ring box, and Jacqueline, looking shocked, asked “What are you doing?” and he responded “Are you ready for this?”. Next thing she knew he was down on one knee asking if she’d continue this adventure with him for the rest of their lives. The answer was a resounding yes but not before she exclaimed “But it’s your birthday!”. The rest of the day felt like a dream and neither could wipe the grin off their faces, even while trudging through the 6 miles of up to chest deep water on the second hike: The Narrows. After the long and eventful day, once they had cell reception while leaving the park, they shared the news with loved ones and enjoyed pizza and beer to celebrate Alex’s birthday, their hiking accomplishments and, most importantly, their engagement.
