Kendall and Trevor met during a period of change in both their lives and the world. It was August 2020, amid the COVID-19 pandemic when uncertainty was widespread, people craved the outdoors, and there was hope the pandemic might be ending. Kendall had just moved to Denver, and Trevor had recently accepted a new job in Colorado Springs, planning to move in October. However, even more changes were in store for both of them after meeting at Washington Park in Denver on August 23, 2020. On that day, Kendall and her friend Tash decided to go to Wash Park to play pick-up volleyball, while Trevor and his friend Jack had the same idea. After warming up, Tash and Kendall were looking for two more players to join their team and approached Trevor and Jack, who were also looking for players. The newly introduced group played together all day, sharing laughs, which led Kendall and Tash to want to exchange numbers with the boys for future games. Kendall and Tash asked, “Would you guys like to exchange numbers?” To which Trevor, being his usual self, replied, “No, Jack and I already have each other's numbers,” and walked away. Stunned and without a reply, Kendall and Tash thought, “Well, I guess we won’t be playing volleyball with them anymore,” but Trevor and Jack soon returned with their phones to exchange numbers. For the rest of the summer, Kendall and Trevor spent more and more time together, both continuing to deny their growing feelings for one another, insisting it was just friendship. However, Trevor planned an “Ice Cream Tour of Colorado” because he knew how much Kendall loved ice cream. It was at this moment that Kendall realized she had found a keeper and could no longer ignore her feelings. They visited six different ice cream shops, ranking each based on the shop's appearance, ice cream flavors and presentation, and overall score, with Nuggs in Denver winning in all categories. Eventually, Trevor asked Kendall to join him on a trip to Colorado Springs to go apartment hunting and visit the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, one of Kendall’s favorite places in the Springs. On the way, Trevor looked over at Kendall and said, “I have a confession to make,” which made Kendall anxious about what might follow. Trevor continued, “I actually don’t really like ice cream,” leaving Kendall heartbroken. Despite this, she felt Trevor’s other qualities outweighed his dislike for ice cream. That same day, Trevor asked Kendall to be his girlfriend, and despite his ice cream aversion, Kendall knew there was no one else she wanted to be with. From there, the rest is history.
Fast forward to December 2022, when Kendall and Trevor began planning their trip to Germany. This trip was a rescheduled journey for Trevor, who was originally supposed to go in May 2020, but had to cancel due to COVID. While planning the trip, Kendall suggested they also visit the tulip fields and botanical garden in the Netherlands, as it would be the peak blooming season, and visiting this area had always been on her bucket list. Although Trevor was initially reluctant, he agreed (fun fact: this ended up being his favorite part of the trip). In April 2023, Kendall and Trevor started their European vacation in Amsterdam. They spent their first full day visiting the Keukenhof Botanical Garden and the tulip fields, where they walked over 20,000 steps and rented a small car to enjoy the views. Although Kendall had always felt that this would be the perfect spot for a proposal, she had no inkling that it was happening, especially after Trevor had repeatedly told her that a proposal was not on the agenda (and might not even happen in 2023, leading to a bit of a disagreement). Throughout the day, Trevor searched for the perfect proposal spot while Kendall admired the tulips and hyacinths, which she had always dreamed of seeing. Later, as they were exploring the tulip gardens at Keukenhof, Trevor pointed out some beautiful pink tulips, knowing they were Kendall's favorite color. He suggested they walk around and take a few pictures. Kendall stopped to take some photos and then turned to walk away. Trevor said, “Wait a minute, I need to take a few pictures too.” Kendall waited, turned to look at more tulips, and when she turned back around, she was shocked to see Trevor down on one knee, holding the ring of her dreams. From that moment, Kendall couldn't recall anything else and later had to confirm with Trevor, “I told you yes, right?” Kendall and Trevor will remember this day for the rest of their lives, and thanks to a stranger also admiring the tulips, they have pictures to document their proposal as well. We can't wait to have you join us in Estes Park as we continue on this journey together!
