• Pikes Peak – Guests may want to visit Pikes Peak, elevation 14,110 ft., which is the 31st highest peak out of 54 Colorado peaks that are above 14,000 ft in elevation. Pikes Peak is known as “America’s Mountain” because it is the most visited mountain in the United States. In fact, no other mountain in the world is visited more than Pikes Peak other than Mt. Fuji in Japan. The views are breathtaking and demonstrate well the inspiration Katherine Lee Bates received while visiting Pikes Peak from which she wrote of the “purple mountains’ majesty above the fruited plains” in her beloved song, “America the Beautiful”. Guests may choose to drive up Pikes Peak (Gate opens at 9:00am and closes at 3:00pm.) or ride the Pikes Peak Cog Railway (http://www.cograilway.com/).
