Pre-wedding event
A pre-wedding celebration where intricate henna designs are applied to the bride’s hands and feet, symbolizing good health and prosperity in marriage. It's a tradition rooted in Indian culture and often attended by female members on both sides of the family. While the bride gets the most elaborate designs, guests are welcome to get their own henna done too!
Pre-wedding event
Another pre-wedding ritual where loved ones apply a turmeric-based paste (called haldi) to the bride and groom. Turmeric is known for its purifying, cleansing, and brightening properties—so this tradition is both symbolic and a bit of pre-wedding skincare! It’s believed that haldi brings good luck, wards off negativity, and gives the couple a natural glow before their big day. The event is filled with laughter, music, and lots of yellow—expect playful moments, heartfelt blessings, and maybe a little turmeric flying around!
Hindu Phera Ceremony
At the heart of a traditional Hindu wedding are the saat pheras, or seven sacred vows, taken around the holy fire (Agni), which represents divine witness. During this ceremony, the couple walks around the fire seven times, each round symbolizing a specific promise—such as love, strength, prosperity, and lifelong friendship. The fire is not just symbolic; it’s sacred, representing purity, clarity, and the couple’s shared journey. With each step, the bride and groom make commitments to support, respect, and grow with one another through all stages of life. The pheras are one of the most meaningful parts of the ceremony, binding the couple in a spiritual and emotional union that goes beyond just marriage—it’s the joining of souls.
