People

Please take a moment to meet our friends, our family and the incredible group of people helping us pull off this amazing weekend!

Anson MacFarlane

Father of the Bride

Anson is Libby’s Bio Dad and though can’t make it on this trip physically, he is here in spirit (and via Zoom during important moments!). He is a part of the Clan MacFarlane and inspiration for this trip to Scotland. We feel so fortunate to honor our collective Scottish heritage, especially the lineage from Anson’s side. We dedicate this trip to you, Dad/Anson! Anson lives in Minnesota and is one of the most generous, patient, loving humans. Libby feels so fortunate as he was her stay-at-home Dad as she was growing up and that she gets to frequent MN for work to have their Father/Daughter dates with Big Bowl pad thai, watching sports (and home videos) and catching up. We love you Anson – this trip is for you.

Paula King

Mother of the Bride

Mother of one of the brides (Libby!)! MomPaula (as we fondly call her) is a semi-retired professor and dean of a business school living in woods of Blue Ridge, GA with her hubby (and Libby’s StepDad) Steve! She is the epitome of cool and fun – and can connect with anyone. She is an avid hiker and traveler and excited to hop over the pond for the wedding. Libby is the luckiest daughter!

Stevie Mangold

Step Father of the Bride

Stevie is one of Libby’s many parental units and has been apart of the tribe since Libby was in 4th grade! Steve has a calming presence, has a great sense of humor, and is incredibly thoughtful. Steve, like Kristy and Tasha, is a former rugby player having played matches in Wales and England, the Presidio in SF and in the Aspen Rugger Fest for many years. He hung up his boots when he was 55! During the pandemic Steve and Paula lived with K & L for 10 months. A highlight of that time was when Kristy and Steve cooked up gourmet dishes – and we sat around the dining table for hours each night - we sang grace, did daily highs and lows, and laughed a lot – much in part to Steve bringing us together.

Annie Hrezo

Kristy's Mom's Best Friend

Annie Baby, as Kristy calls her, is her Mom’s (Pat) best friend. Annie has known Kristy since she was in kindergarten! Annie and Pat stayed in touch over all the years and Kristy and Annie have been able to spend lovely moments together in Seattle, Maryland, and Florida over the past 15 years. Annie is a high school special education teacher and has a love for travel. She spent her summers traveling to all 50 states and is now on a mission to hit every US National Park.

Lauren and Timothee de Mierry

Friends of the Brides

Libby and Lauren met in January 2005 during their first year at Wellesley College in a History of the Blues music class - and have been dear friends ever since. Since day one, their shared love of music is something that has connected and deepened their friendship - from Tuesday night listening parties, Bonnaroo, yoga music flows, and writing music reviews on their shared platform L is for Listen. She and her husband Timothee reside in London with their two boys Ari and Taz. Despite living across the Atlantic from one another since college – Libby & Lauren have found sweet ways to reunite in Big Sur, MN, Lisbon, NYC, Utah – as they say, “we don’t know when, we don’t know where, but see you soon!”

Gio McClenachan & Gab Reisman

Friends of the Brides

Gab and Gio are a playwright and oceanographer, travelling to the Isle of Skye from New Orleans, Louisiana. Gio met Kristy in grad school at Louisiana State University in 2010, and they've remained close friends, leaning on each other as they navigate careers in coastal ecology. Gab and Gio were lucky enough to be living in Orlando when Kristy and Libby got together and to see this relationship quickly blossom into something super special. Libby and Kristy recently visited New Orleans this October to watch these two lovely ladies marry in front of dozens of family and friends—we are so grateful they were willing to come share this special occasion with us after literal years of planning and postponing their own wedding because of COVID!

Stephanie Brown & Paul Cebulak

Friends of the Brides

Steph and Libby met at Wellesley College, though it wasn’t until years later (spring 2013) that they became incredibly close when they lived together for three years while in graduate school at Duke. Libby still remembers that first night catching up on their front porch swing Durham - all of the laughter, joy, stories - it was as if no time had passed. Since that sweet time creating home space, they have had many adventures – from Morocco, Asheville, Philly, Florida --- and most recently Steph planned the most epic weekend in California Wine Country to gather some of Libby’s best friends. She is traveling to Scotland with her partner, Paul!

Natasha Strickland

Friends of the Brides

Natasha and Kristy have been friends since 2009, when they met playing women’s rugby in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. They became quick friends and have shared so many memories since. From traveling all over the southeast for rugby, to cross-country visits and trips to have friend-tastic weekends together. Some of Kristy’s fondest memories are the late-night study sessions spent in Kristy’s office at LSU when Natasha was in law school and Kristy was working on her PhD. Natasha is now a lawyer, a JAG officer in the United States Coast Guard and is based in Oakland, California and lives with her partner Sam, who is also in the Coast Guard and now in law school!

Molly Means and Amber Gaither

Friends of the Brides

It all started at a Brandi Carlile show. Well, pre-show Camp XOBC (Brandi’s wine club) event. None of us were from Canandaigua, NY – and we are so grateful Amber and Molly made the trip from Harrisburg, PA where they live with their two little girls, Hazel and Ruby. We instantly hit it off and we stayed in touch after our serendipitous meeting at Camp XOBC. Less than a month later, we planned a magical canoe trip to the Boundary Waters of Minnesota. We are so grateful for these two (our first friends we made together as a couple!) – in a very short amount of time, and many Sunday night zooms we feel like we have known each other for years. Kristy and I are better people and better partners – thanks to conversations, sharing and connecting with these two women.

Jess Khokhlan

Friends of the Brides

Jess has been a part of Libby and Kristy’s journey since day minus one. She was the one who encouraged Libby to ask Kristy on a second date! Libby and Jess connected at a happy hour event in Florida when they bonded over being transplants from ‘the north’. Jess resides in Sarasota, FL. Kristy and Libby are grateful she has been a part of their journey – from dinners on the porch, pool hangs, flying kites at the beach – she has been such a constant, positive person in both of their lives.

Rona Burstow

Officiant

Hello you lovely folk! 💛 I'm Rona, a Humanist Celebrant with the huge honour to pronounce Kristy and Libby married on the 21st of November! Yipee! Looking forward to welcoming you all to Skye! The key to having the best time on Skye is to plan for the weather, the ceremony will last roughly half an hour, and the weather can be windy and not the warmest, so invest in some thermals, and good walking shoes, you can thank me later! :) My top tip for the wedding day. Embrace the elements; it gives you a sense of freedom, and remember to have a big breakfast! I absolutely love my job, and the best bit is meeting people from all walks of life. I'm so proud to call this place home, and can't wait to welcome you with open arms! You will have the best time, see you on the Quiraing! Rona x

Steph and Oli Prince

Photographers

We're Oli and Steph Prince, elopement photographers and guides. We met in 2015 whilst working in the sub-Antarctic as a field biologist and a chef. We bonded over our love of wildlife and photography and eloped in Hawaii in 2018. We now live on the Isle of Skye with our two rescue pups Luna and Shackelton. In our spare time, we love hiking, camping and exploring the Highlands. The rest of our time is spent photographing elopements and couples on Skye and across the Highlands.

Jo Greenfield

Videographer

I'm Jo, I've been a photographer for 14 years, I'm based in The Lake District, Cumbria and I love adventurous elopements. I'm a film addict and have been since I was a little girl but only in the past two years felt brave enough to do it myself. I've not once looked back. I have a little boy called Finn who is 2 years old and he's my IVF miracle baby. I love my job, the best bits are spending the happiest days of a couples life and documenting that story in less than 6 minutes. It's a challenge but one I become obsessed with.

Heather Campbell

Hair and Make up Artist

I left Skye when I was 16 to go to college to do hair and beauty and came home at 19 and worked doing hair for a few years. About 12 years ago, I delved back into the beauty side and combined beauty and bridal hair together to be able to offer a full package to brides. I have many years experience in the industry and still absolutely love my job!

London Calling

Music

A fiercely talented acoustic duo, Georgia Thursting and Louis Davidson, play with plenty of attitude. Ya'll are going to be stunned by the raw talent of these two musicians! London Calling boasts an extensive repertoire, covering a vast number of popular, contemporary and classic hits from the past few decades. The pair met while performing as part of the hip hop/jazz ensemble ‘Capua Collective’ in 2013 and have since been inseparable, taking their effortlessly cool, R&B/Soul & pop performances around the UK (and the globe). You can see their videos on Instagram at @georgiathursting or on Facebook at ‘Georgia Thursting Music’ . To listen and purchase visit https://georgiathursting.bandcamp.com/
