Many of you might be wondering... "Why Indiana? I thought she was from Chicago?" While this is technically true, Kristine is actually from a small farm town called Beecher, IL. Beecher is on the far southside of Chicago nearly on the Indiana state line, therefore; much of Kristine’s life was spent in Indiana. The Neumeyer’s have been going on field trips to Fair Oaks since the kids were little and continued to visit as the small farm turned into a “tourist destination” over the years. Even as an adult, Kristine still loves to visit Fair Oaks Farms for the dairy tour, agriculture information and great farm to table food and ice cream! The Neumeyer’s highly recommend taking some time to book a tour, explore the property, and grab some ice cream while visiting for the event!
If you're interested in the arts, Kristine's cousin Robert Lagestee (grandson of Charles Lotton) creates beautiful hand blown glass pieces. From their website: "Lotton Art Glass" is one of the very few studios in the world to start with elements of the earth like sand, soda ash, lime, borax, zinc and metals resulting in some of the most breathtaking colors that you will ever see." Lotton Art Glass is world renowned and has even been featured in major museums! If you are interested please contact Kristine's mom Kathleen (219-776-9017) to possibly watch them in action!!
If you enjoy rollercoasters than you will be happy to hear that there is an amusement park about 40 minutes away from Fair Oaks! Indiana Beach Amusement and Water Park has been around since the 1920's and offers over 50 rides and attractions including a new roller coaster just added in 2024.
Kristine still claims to be from the Windy City and recommends visiting the city if flying into Midway or O' hare! If you love architecture, great pizza, river tours, beach fronts, structures shaped like a bean, sports, aquariums/zoos... the list goes on and on, please take some time to visit the city! Fun fact: Kristine and Drew had their engagement photos taken at The Art Institute downtown!
