Taxis: When you arrive at the Puerto Vallarta airport (PVR), you don't pay the driver directly. Instead, you go to one of the authorized taxi kiosks (like TPV or Aero Movil) inside the arrivals hall. Credit cards accepted. Process: You tell them your destination, they give you a fixed price based on the "zone," and you pay at the counter using a credit card or cash. You’ll receive a ticket to hand to the taxi driver outside. Ubers: The Ubers pickup point is across the road via the pedestrian bridge when you make a left out of the exit. Ubers can drop off directly at the airport.

Google maps: https://maps.app.goo.gl/oJajcHm4g5zy9ZEJ7 The Puerto Vallarta airport (PVR) is known as Licenciado Gustavo Díaz Ordaz International Airport. It's only about 20 minutes away from the hotel! Taxis are available by paying at a taxi kiosk inside the airport then taking a taxi immediately at the exit. Ubers are available crossing the road via the pedestrian bridge when you make a left out of the exit. Ubers can drop off directly at the airport. ----- El aeropuerto de Puerto Vallarta (PVR) se llama Aeropuerto Internacional Licenciado Gustavo Díaz Ordaz. ¡Está a solo unos 20 minutos del hotel! Travel Note
PV is generally a safe place that receives millions of tourists from around the world every year. We do not expect any further disruptions in Puerto Vallarta. The events in February were unusual, and the government has quickly restored order. Just keep your common sense about you and don't flash cash or jewelry out in the street. Keep your doors locked and watch your pockets. And just like in any city, best not to wander the streets alone at night looking/sounding drunk! The emergency number to call is 911.
Travel Note
Ubers and taxis are plentiful in Puerto Vallarta. See the hotel info above for information about Uber/taxi from the airport. The hotel is also located in a central area with lots of things to walk to. It's usually not necessary to rent a car unless you have a specific trip you want to make, but there are plenty of rental agencies in PV. Parking in the city is limited.
Travel Note
Some banks require you to notify them before travel abroad to avoid them freezing your card. Other banks no longer require this. American credit and debit cards are widely accepted in Puerto Vallarta. The best exchange rate is to pay in pesos instead of dollars when charging to your card. For cash, Mexican pesos are the local currency. There are plenty of places to exchange cash within the city, but you can also order pesos from your bank before the trip. The only things that require cash might be small restaurants, street vendors/souvenirs, and tips. You can also take out pesos from any ATM with your debit card. Check with your bank if they have parter ATMs in Mexico that won't charge you a fee.
Travel Note
Many US plans include service in Mexico. Sometimes you can also buy a temporary package to get coverage in Mexico. Check with your phone provider to find out your options. If your phone is unlocked, SIM cards are also available at convenience stores.
Travel Note
Americans and Brits don't need a visa to travel to Mexico, just a passport with at least 6 months validity. Immigration will issue you a FMM visitor permit. Keep it safe because you have to show it at the airport when you leave Mexico.
Travel Note
Use bottled water for drinking in Mexico. The hotel should provide a few bottles in your room, and there is a jug downstairs by the bar you can use for refills. Tap water is fine for brushing teeth and bathing.
