In what may be the longest courtship in the history of ever, Scott and Tina's journey to the altar took its sweet time, but was well worth the wait. Over 10 years in fact, just how Scott planned it. It all started when Scott’s friend and Tina’s friend were dating way back in the day, and the two were tag-a-longs to several group activities. Though both were incredibly shy and painfully awkward, they fell into comfortable conversations and over time became friends on their own. From watching Sin City at Scott’s mom’s house to grabbing a cup of coffee at Dunkin’ and staying so late they got kicked out so the place could close, they found they enjoyed spending time together, but each was too shy to ask the other out. Over the years, they each pursued their own goals. Tina going to college and earning her Bachelors, then her Masters degree. Scott working his way through medic school to become a paramedic, then chief at Wantagh Levittown Volunteer Ambulance Core. Occasionally, the two would text, but still no one made a move. Eventually Tina took to online dating and happened to see Scott’s profile pop up. She swiped right, and so did he. The two started talking again which led to dinner which led to Tina crushing Scott at bowling, then a romantic kiss in the rain in the parking lot. Finally we’re getting somewhere! Tina and Scott felt a connection and discovered many shared nerdy passions like Dungeons and Dragons, Harry Potter, and video games. While they enjoyed spending time together, something wasn’t quite falling into place. Not being at the same point in their respective journeys, and needing some time to level up on their own, they split and instead focused on their own paths. A global pandemic later, Tina still couldn’t stop thinking about Scott and whether their story was truly over. One summer, she sent Scott a text to see if he was interested in talking again, and didn’t hear back. Scott, on the other hand, was excited to hear from Tina, but panicked. While he turned to his friends for suggestions on what he should say, days passed. Then weeks. Then months. Scott thought he missed his chance. While Tina wondered why Scott didn’t get back to her, she was determined to get an answer one way or the other. A few months later, she texted him again and this time, Scott texted back. After more months of texting back and forth, remember these are two incredibly awkward nerds, Tina asked Scott if he wanted to catch up over dinner. Scott doubled down and asked if she would also be interested in going to a movie. It was a date! From there it was as if no time passed at all, and there was no turning back. May 4, 2022 they officially became a couple (finally!) and began building the foundation for a strong, happy relationship. In 2024, they moved in together with Tina’s cat Lizzie and on January 26, 2025, they took a trip into the city. Scott led Tina to Washington Square Park where he got down on one knee and asked Tina to marry him with a flock of pigeons flying in the background. It was perfect. If you ask Scott, it was all part of his 10-year plan. If you ask Tina, it was all due to her stubbornness and sheer determination. However you view it, they’re the happiest they’ve ever been, and their story is just getting started.
