Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Kristina Grosspietsch and Michael Auerbach
There's so much to do in Marrakech. Here are a few ideas, but certainly there is more to do than just this list! FYI — Morocco has a great train system if you’re looking to explore the rest of the country!
Marrakech Medina

Marrakech Medina

This is the old walled city of Marrakech - built in 1122! It’s the main tourist section of the city and a lot of the other suggestions on this list will be found within the Medina.

Jemaa el-Fnaa — The Night Market

Jemaa el-Fnaa — The Night Market

This is Marrakech’s main tourist destination, a chaotic, bustling market full of everything: amazing food, music, spices, henna tattoos, and snake charmers. It can be overwhelming, so if you’re not into the hustle and bustle, try grabbing a mint tea at a rooftop café nearby! Open until 9pm.

Souks

Souks

Marrakech is known for its markets, known as Souks, that you’ll find in the Medina. During the day, over 3000 stalls sell everything from tagines and glassware to scarves and spices. The largest souk is Souk Semmarine, which has a lot of pottery and pastries and branches out to other souks from there for spices, textiles, and …everything. A lot of travelers sign up for guided tours through the souks by a local!

Ben Youssef Madrasa

Ben Youssef Madrasa

A former Islamic college, and current historical site, with stunning architecture. Tiles! Mosaics! Archways!

Jardin Majorelle

Jardin Majorelle

An artist turned a house into a botanical garden!

Bahia Palace

Bahia Palace

“La Bahia (The Beautiful) is an 8000-sq-metre, floor-to-ceiling extravagance of intricate marquetry, plasterwork and zouak (painted wood), and certainly one of Marrakech's most eye-popping sights.” - Lonely Planet

Maison de la Photographie

Maison de la Photographie

Showcases Moroccan artists, and the rooftop café is also one of the highest in the Medina.

Yves Saint Laurent Museum

Yves Saint Laurent Museum

Yves Saint Laurent loved Marrakech...so they made a museum for him!

Riad Yima Tea Room

Riad Yima Tea Room

Great place for mint tea in the Medina!

Hammams

Hammams

Morocco has tons of spas, called hammams. Your hotel/riad will likely have one!

Souk Cuisine Cooking Class!

Souk Cuisine Cooking Class!

Learn to cook Moroccan food with food purchased directly from the market!

Lunch at Amal

Lunch at Amal

If you're exploring Gueliz, the modern French quarter of Marrakech, stop for lunch at the Amal Center — a restaurant and non profit that empowers disadvantaged women through restaurant training. The food is amazing, and they also hold cooking classes!

For all the days along the way
