Flights and accommodation

There are two airports with car rental options, Tallinn and Riga in Latvia. Please take the time and look into the best available routes for you. Tartu city has a lot of options for accommodation. We have pinpointed a few, but please also check Booking.com or Air B&B to find the best option to meet your needs. We do recommend taking a place near the city centre. Tartu is one of the European Capitals of Culture in 2024 and has a lot happening this year.

Travel Note

Coach

A coach can be taken directly from Tallinn airport. They usually depart every hour and tickets can be bought online. Journey time from Tallinn airport to Tartu coach station is approximately 2.5 hours.

Train

Tallinn - Tartu

The train can be taken from Ulemiste station (10 minute walk from the airport) to travel between the Capital city of Estonia (Tallinn) and Tartu. Tickets can be easily bought online, but are not available for sale until a few days before the travel date. The trip takes around 2 hours.
