How We Met

April 2017

Kristiann: I lived with my sister and brother-in-law during my first two years of college. I met Ben on Easter Sunday in 2017. He and his family came over for dinner and, frankly, I didn't think much of the guy. We talked some, ate a lot, and he went home. The End.

After the Meeting

May - August 2017

A summer of working at camp can change your life in more ways than you think. The summer of 2017 we both worked at The Wilds in Brevard, North Carolina. I was on the Waitress crew and Ben worked Landscape. Throughout the summer, we became very good friends and as some would say, a spark was lit. It wasn't until November of the same year that we finally sat down and told each other those famed words - "I like you." We did not start dating until May of 2018 and have been happily dating ever since.

When He Asked

October 5, 2019

Kristiann: I almost ruined this whole day. YAY ME! We made plans months before to go hiking with two of our very dear friends on some Saturday during the school year so we could see all the pretty fall colors. October 5th was the chosen date and all that was left to do was wait. The week of our hiking Saturday, I got sick. Sick, sick, sick. By Friday night, I was just getting better and putting away the meds. That evening, it was decided that the hiking needed to be put off for my health's sake. Ben: *commence freaking out Kristiann: What can I say? The extra rest was needed. Ben texted me that morning asking if I would be up to going for a walk downtown Greer park later that afternoon. I agreed and (unbeknownst to me) Ben was wildly rejoicing at his house. He picked me up at 3:00 and off we went. I suspected nothing. He had been hinting at December so much that I had no inklings or suspicions. After walking around almost aimlessly for at least 15 minutes or longer (we walked around the same fountain at least 5 times), the area was finally clear enough and Ben was down on two knees. Yes, two. It was precious. He also didn't mean to, but that's beside the point. Again, unbeknownst to me, our friends that we made plans to go hiking with came to the park two hours before to scope out the perfect proposal spot. Tears were shed, pictures were taken, and a surprise party was thrown with friends and family. So though the original plan was totally thrown off-kilter, we were still engaged and I still had the most gorgeous ring on my finger. All in all, it was a perfect day.
