It was early in 1992, we both signed up for a dating service through Matchmaker. I remember getting his profile information in the mail. When I called him for the first time, we talked on the phone for hours and made plans for our first date. He picked me up at my condo in his red Chevy truck and we headed off for miniature golf. We had such a good time, I knew then I found my guy!!! Something about him made me feel good. We both had young boys and were taking the world by storm…we always had a great time together. For whatever reason though, God had other plans and 10 months into our amazing love story, it sadly came to an end (queue the sappy love songs...). Flash forward 20 years later, love found its way back to us and we reconnected, thanks to a little thing called Facebook. It was like time never separated us. Both were in a place in our lives that needed redemption and revival! We decided to start a long-distance relationship. A very challenging journey began to say the least…700 miles worth...but through the ups and downs, family crisis' and difficult storms we never doubted the love we had for each other. No relationship is perfect and we have endured a lot but we are going strong- 4 amazing years strong! Funny…I still get butterflies every time he kisses me, and we both talk about that very first time we saw each other and how we knew, 20 years ago, that something clicked and connected between us. If anything deems to be called love at first sight, it would be this. He was like my lighthouse!!! He brought me back home again. And if ever love could be described like a lighthouse, it would be our story. When you’re truly in love, for me, it’s…you’re my lighthouse! You’re somebody who holds me high, keeps me safe, you’ve got my back. You also love me whole, wild, and free. You let me do me, and I’m gonna let you do you! And I’ll be the home that you return to and you will be mine.
