Milwaukee Art Museum
One of Milwaukee's great cultural institutions, architectural landmarks, and places of scenic beauty.
Lakefront Brewery
Milwaukee might be known for Miller, Pabst, and Schlitz, but we have tons of smaller breweries too. Lakefront is one of our favorites, and they have a great Friday fish fry, another longstanding Milwaukee tradition.
Kopp's Frozen Custard
Best frozen custard in the world. Not ice cream. A must do in Milwaukee!
Colectivo Coffee Lakefront
One of our favorite spots to hang out, write, eat and drink coffee/tea, and then walk along Lake Michigan.
Milwaukee Public Museum
An awesome museum that defined childhood for Schuyler and whose dinosaurs gave him nightmares. Definitely great for all ages. Look for the rattlesnake button on the second floor.
Beans & Barley
THE Vogel restaurant for years. Eating out meant going here.
Milwaukee Public Market
One of Kristen's favorite Milwaukee spots. She loves the sugar cookies there, specifically from C. Adam's Bakery.
Atwater Beach Park
The beach a few blocks from where Schuyler grew up. Lake Michigan - the Third Coast!
Christkindlmarket Milwaukee
This started after we left Milwaukee, but it seems awesome and celebrates the city's German roots. And perfect for the season!
Oriental Theatre
The coolest movie theater in town, right in the heart of the East Side. We have seen many great movies here, including The Shining, Booksmart, Star Wars, and most recently, the Last Black Man in San Fransisco.
Mitchell Park Horticultural Conservatory
If you are worried about facing down Wisconsin in December, take refuge in the Domes where you can experience both desert and tropical environments even during the coldest winter days.
Milwaukee County Zoo
At one point Schuyler heard it was ranked the third best zoo in America. Later research couldn't confirm this, despite much googling. But still worth a visit!
Schlitz Audubon Nature Center
The wedding venue! Beyond being a great place to be married, it has wonderful trails through woods and fields, as well as access to Lake Michigan. A favorite place of Schuyler's growing up.
Art☆Bar
Where we had our first date, located in the hip, artsy, and radically leftist Riverwest neighborhood.
Von Trier
A great place to drink traditional german beer and a Milwaukee favorite.
Foundation
A great tiki bar in the Riverwest neighborhood. Has the best yelp rating of any bar in Milwaukee. Great place to go if you want to pretend you live in a tropical paradise, rather than the frozen tundra.
Urban Beets Cafe & Juicery
A great place for vegans, vegetarians, and the ethical eater! Healthy and tastes good too. Especially good for Gary, father of the bride.
Milwaukee Bucks
The Milwaukee Bucks have gone from perpetual underdogs to one of the NBA's best teams, in a brand new and beautiful stadium, with the league MVP. What could be a better team to root for?
Harley-Davidson Museum
Milwaukee is home to Harley Davidson and there is a museum about it. Kristen took students there and even though she is more cyclist than motorcyclist, it is fun and informative.
