Festivities begin the evening before (December 27th), where you are invited to join us for informal drinks and food. We'll be gathering at Cafe Hollander on Milwaukee's East Side around 8pm and have the whole second floor reserved. Hope you can come!
Google maps tells us it is about a 20 minute drive.
We recommend staying near downtown Milwaukee. There are hotels closer to the venue, but either way, you will have to drive, and staying downtown will generally be much more interesting, and not that much longer a drive.
If you drove to Milwaukee and don't plan on drinking too much, then feel free to drive and offer others a ride. If you don't have a car, or want to significantly enjoy the open bar, we encourage you to grab a lyft, call a cab, or make friends with someone who can give you a ride. Public transportation will be difficult to find in the woods.
The wedding will be indoors, so no worries there! And while the venue is in the woods, the roads are all fairly flat, paved, and accessible.
From their website: "Yes. The Center is wheelchair accessible, with elevator access to every floor of the building. The parking area and certain trails are wheelchair accessible with either asphalt or crushed limestone."
The service is officiating by the Rev. Dr. Andrew Kennedy, the Minister Emeritus of the First Unitarian Society of Milwaukee. Schuyler attended there as a kid, and then Drew was his official ministerial mentor during Schuyler's first years of ministry.
We ask that you do not, because we have a wonderful professional photographer who will be taking photos. We will be excited to share those with you, but want to make sure her line of sight looks clean and undisturbed. Thanks and we hope you will take lots of photos during the reception though!
We've been told that "cocktail attire" is what people usually wear to weddings. Feel free to use that as a benchmark or just dress befitting the occasion in whatever way is truest to you.
