You can rent a car and drive, but we don’t recommend driving in Mexico. It’s nothing like driving in the US. In and around Mexico City, traffic is very congested and GPS is difficult to use. Instead, we’re renting shuttle buses to transport our precious cargo. We have a shuttle scheduled for Friday morning. We will meet in the lobby of the Hotel Zócalo and leave at 12 noon. There will be restrooms on the bus, and booze and snacks. Party. On Sunday, February 16th there will be shuttles back to Mexico City.
Hotel Hacienda Vista Hermosa. Wait, not Mexico City? No. Hotel Hacienda Vista Hermosa is about 1.5 hrs south of Mexico City in the town of San José Vista Hermosa. The address and website are listed on the Travel and Schedule page.
We have a block of rooms reserved at the Hacienda Vista Hermosa and you can book a room through their website. There are few hotels in the town surrounding the Hacienda, but the transportation in the area is spotty, especially if you don't have a car.
One dollar equals 19.04 Mexican Peso (as of July 2019).
Most people speak some English, and the Mendoza clan will be there to help.
Uber, Lyft and your feet. Rideshare apps are easy, and fairly cheap. Be aware that it take a minimum 30 minutes to get somewhere in the city.
Mexico city sits at 7,350 feet above sea level, so please keep that in mind. Mid Februrary in Mexico city is temperate, likely 55-75 degrees during the day, and in the mid 40’s at night. San José Vista Hermosa, the location of our wedding, is south of Mexico City and has a warmer climate. It will run warmer during the day, about 70-80 degrees and slightly cooler at night, roughly 60 degrees. Dress accordingly.
There is a pool, spa, horse stables, soccer field and tennis court in the hacienda. There is also Lake Tequesquitengo nearby.
Don’t drink the tap water. Only drink bottled water. However, you are safe to brush your teeth with tap water. Montezuma's Revenge, AKA the grand daddy of all stomach bugs is something you want to avoid, just ask Morgan about his latest battle with this calm but ferocious beast. Not fun.
