Some love stories start with a grand gesture. Theirs started with a broken arm. They met as kids in catechism - Kristen saw Kevin’s cast and asked what happened. It was a small moment, an innocent question, but somehow it sparked something that neither of them understood at the time. Every summer, they found their way back to each other through Vacation Bible School. Kevin started out in the games group, but quickly switched to small groups just to be near Kristen. That’s where the friendship really began. That’s where the foundation was quietly being built. Year after year, they’d reconnect in the midst of crafts, snack breaks, and organized chaos. And with every summer came the same thing: laughter, teasing, a pull toward each other that kept coming back stronger. Eventually, they both stayed in the games group - fitting, considering they have always been about the games, the jokes, and the fun that somehow kept turning into something more. Then came April Fools’ Day, 2016. Their first date. The most unserious day to start something so serious but it was perfectly us. They went on their first date and talked for hours about everything and nothing. And through those conversations, they both knew something was different. There was no pressure. No judgment. Just ease. Just comfort. Just home. By July 4th, Kevin asked Kristen to be his girlfriend, and from that moment on, they’ve been writing this story together. They have grown up together - through late-night drives, distance, big dreams, and hard choices. Through every chapter, one thing has stayed the same: they have always chosen each other. The proposal was another twist in their story - one Kristen kind of saw coming, but not like that. She thought she was photographing her best friend and her fiancé, only to realize she was walking into her own proposal. Kevin had set up signs marking key moments of their journey, leading her to him - waiting, smiling, down on one knee - with their favorite photographer capturing it all. It was thoughtful, intentional, and full of heart. Just like everything Kevin does. Since that day, they have continued to build the kind of love they dreamed of - one grounded in friendship, rooted in faith, and strengthened by time. They have taught 6th grade catechism together, stayed up too late planning their futures, cheered each other on in every season, and carved out a life filled with the kind of joy that lives in the in-between moments: the tacos, the show tunes, and the long hugs after a hard day. Kevin has always been the calm, the steady, the visionary. Kristen has always been the fire, the emotion, the believer. Together, they have made it a point to build something real before rushing into forever. They knew they wanted this day but more than that, they knew they wanted to be ready for it. To step into marriage not just in love, but in alignment. With hearts, hopes, and dreams that truly fit together. They’re not perfect. They’re not polished. But they are full of love. And they have never stopped being a team. So when you see them dancing badly in the kitchen, or singing High School Musical in the car like it’s their full-time job, or showing up for each other in the quietest ways - you’re seeing the result of years of choosing each other. Of growing together, and loving on purpose. Because they are not just a love story. They are a real story. And they are proof that high school relationships can last - and grow into something deep, lasting, and unbelievably worth it. Thank you for being part of this moment with us. We can’t wait to see where the next chapter leads.
