How We Met

First comes chicken...

We met cooking chicken and serving customers together at Chick-Fil-A, our first jobs in high school. Kristen had been working at Chick-Fil-A for a year and a half before Evan joined the team of employees and after consistently being put on the same positions most shifts (often right next to each other), the two quickly developed a friendly relationship full of many puns (Evan's shtick) and inside jokes. It wasn't until the two started college that their relationship became deeper and blossomed into what it is today.

How He Proposed

Then comes the long awaited ring...

Evan and I had been dating for three and a half years before he got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. We were both very patient for marriage until the time was right, even though we knew we wanted it after our first year of dating. Shortly after graduating college with Bachelor degrees from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, Evan let me go ring shopping to just "look" at potential rings. At this point, we had seriously talked about an engagement within the next year, but I wasn't expecting anything to happen until at least January 2020. Boy was I wrong. Evan bought the engagement ring of my dreams in early June 2019 and by late July 2019 (the 27th to be exact), he proposed to me at one of my new favorite places in Colorado, The Denver Botanic Gardens. Both him and his family knew how much I LOVED plants and flowers and confirmed that it was the best place to propose to me at, seeing as I had never been there. That day I had carried two disposable film cameras for us to take pictures with and Evan was watching me take close up shots of flowers from behind when all of a sudden I turned around to talk to him and there he was down on one knee asking if I would marry him. My extremely surprised response was "What?! Really?! Right NOW??" and then of course, "YES!!" We both laughed so hard and enjoyed the intimate moment between just the two of us, since he had waited until all the other people had left the conservatory to propose. We then called our family and told them the good news. It was truly a day I'll never forget and will cherish forever.
