The currency of Belize is the Belize Dollar. (1) US dollar = (2) Belize dollars. For several decades now the BZ Dollar has been tied to the US dollar at an official rate of two BZ Dollars to one US dollar. US dollars are gladly accepted throughout the country, so there is no need to exchange currency before you arrive in Belize. However, because Belize is a small country, we would advise everyone to carry cash on them as there are places where credit/debit cards aren't accepted, and ATMs often run out of cash. Also, very few places accept AmEx in Belize, but most other cards are fine. Las Terrazas Resort will gladly accept cards, but always a good measure to have cash as well.
