Things To Do

Staying in Nova Scotia for a few days before or after the wedding? Here are a few spots we love around the province!

Peggys Cove

Peggys Cove, NS, Canada

Historic lighthouse just down the road from the wedding venue. Stay off the dark rocks!

Mahone Bay

Mahone Bay, NS, Canada

A very cute town to wander and grab an ice cream cone. Kristen and Cathy have been known to buy the odd piece of jewelry from Northern Sun :)

Wolfville

Wolfville, NS, Canada

Beautiful town in the Annapolis Valley with lots of shops, restaurants, wineries and cideries and, most importantly, home of the Haleys!

Halls Harbour Lobster Pound

1157 West Halls Harbour Road, Halls Harbour, NS B0P 1J0, Canada

Though Kristen and Chris haven't eaten here, we hear it's a great spot for a lobster dinner (with bibs and all) by the ocean! Check with Nelly and Steve for confirmation.

Cape Split Trailhead

Scots Bay, NS B0P 1H0, Canada

Ollie approved hiking trail, and Kristen's favourite hike in Nova Scotia! Go early as it gets busy, but give it a miss on a foggy day as the view is the best part.

The Lookoff

The Lookoff, NS B0P 1H0, Canada

Beautiful spot for a view of the Annapolis Valley, Wolfville and Minas Basin. No walking required!

Hennigar's Farm Market

Nova Scotia Trunk 1, Wolfville, NS B4P 2R2, Canada

Cute farmers market with fresh local produce, delicious ice cream and a petting zoo. A favourite spot for Kristen to visit with Bevan when in town!

Bar Kismet

2733 Agricola Street, Halifax, NS B3K 4E2, Canada

The best double date spot with Bevan and Dan. Delicious food and cocktails.

The Narrows Public House

2720 Gottingen Street, Halifax, NS B3K 3C7, Canada

Amazing pub in North End Halifax. They also rent a couple of rooms upstairs if you need a place to stay in the city!

Highwayman

1673 Barrington Street, Halifax, NS B3J 1Z9, Canada

Chris and Kristen's favourite restaurant in Halifax. The beef tartare is a must, and they have an entire gin and tonic menu!

Two If By Sea Cafe

66 Ochterloney Street, Dartmouth, NS B2Y 1C2, Canada

If you're willing to make the hop over to Dartmouth, their croissants are to die for!

McKelvie's Restaurant

1680 Lower Water Street, Halifax, NS B3J 2Y3, Canada

Delicious seafood restaurant in Halifax and the site of many Vandenberg family celebrations. Make sure to try the bannock bread.

Halifax Public Gardens

Summer Street, Halifax, NS B3J 3S9, Canada

Beautifully landscaped Victorian gardens in the middle of downtown. Great for an easy afternoon stroll (but they close at sunset!).

The Old Triangle Irish Alehouse

5136 Prince Street, Halifax, NS B3J 1L4, Canada

Cathy's favourite seafood chowder in Halifax, and a great spot for some live fiddle music.

Cabin Coffee

1554 Hollis Street, Halifax, NS B3J 1V3, Canada

Excellent coffee and to-go breakfasts (shout-out to the cinnamon rolls and scones). Bonus points if you find the picture of John Stamos.

Shuck Seafood + Raw Bar

5120 Salter Street, Halifax, NS B3J 0A1, Canada

Formerly buck-a-shuck oysters, now buck-fifty-a-shuck, but still delicious!

Willy’s

5239 Blowers Street, Halifax, NS B3J 1J8, Canada

Late night wedding poutine, anyone?

For all the days along the way
