How We Met

We met during Krista's first semester at Evangel University. She had to take a chemistry class for her nursing degree. Isaac was the TA for the class and soon after we started talking we became fast friends. We talked about everything from theater, to sports, to science, and even just everyday life.

First Date

Isaac asked me to go out on a "proper date" with him on October 19, 2018. We had originally planned on waiting a week. Isaac couldn't wait, though, so we went the next day after he finished at church. When he got back we went to Chick-Fil-A where we not only got dinner, but also got a free "show" from three 7 year old boys who were doing Fortnite dances through our entire meal. We both were laughing so hard because of the dancing and all the jokes and stories from both of us. At one point I was laughing so hard I thought I was going to fall over. After that we went to the second part of our date. Isaac wouldn't tell me where we were going, but had found out about my competitive nature and thought it was a good idea to bring it out. I was little worried about this, but overall excited because it was bowling. I love bowling and am fantastic at it. Before we left the truck however, I realized something. I had left my purse at Chick-Fil-A. Isaac turns around so we can go get it. He thinks it's hilarious while I am mildly mortified. Once we get the purse we turn go back to bowl. I destroyed him during the first game.....and he beat me the second time around. After that we went to get hot chocolate to go at Potter's House (our favorite coffee shop) and then went out star gazing. We sat in the back of his truck and just talked about everything. It was amazing. That night we even saw some shooting stars. When we got back to campus he walked me to my dorm and asked me to be his girlfriend. I said yes and have never regretted that decision.

Proposal

So, I knew from fairly early on that I was going to marry Krista eventually, but she made me promise before Christmas break that I wouldn't buy a ring. I promised her I wouldn't buy a ring "before Christmas," so I went out on December 26th and bought an engagement ring (if you ask her, she'll show you. Multiple times. Per day.), but they didn't have it in the right size (she has non-standard sized fingers because according to jewelers everyone should have either size 7 or size 10 fingers), so I had to get it resized. She knew a proposal was coming, and we had already decided we wanted to get married, but she also knew the ring was out being resized and wasn't supposed to have gotten back until February 5th. I got the call on January 31 that the ring had been resized and was ready to pick up, so while she was busy with a class, I drove down and picked up the ring under the ruse of a Wal-Mart run (which I actually DID do, for the record). Once I got the ring and got back on campus, it was all I could do to wait until I had planned something to actually propose. That night, we painted in my room (well, she painted and I washed brushes and played with her hair), and she was literally 4 feet from the ring without knowing it. The next day, we went out bowling after dinner (where she "destroyed" me), and then I suggested that we go out to a local park for a walk. She wasn't too thrilled about it, but I asked her to trust me. This park was where we had had our first heart-to-heart talk, and was where I knew I wanted to marry her. When we got out of the truck, we started walking and talking and I told her that the park was where I had REALLY known I wanted to marry her, and when we got to the specific spot we had had that first talk, I got down on one knee, pulled out the ring, and asked the big question. "Krista Smith, will you make me the happiest man on earth and marry me?" (to which she obviously said yes)
